Suspected Fulani Herdsmen Strike Again, Butcher Farmer In Abraka

A cassava farmer, Osakwe Benard, aged 48, a father of five and resident in Obiaruku, has been butchered by suspected Fulani herdmen.
The incidence which occurred in his farm in Abraka farm reserve left him wounded by deep matchet cuts on several parts of his body.
OM gathered that doctors were battling to save his life, as he was still unconscious and had received three pints of blood.
Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM), the wife of the victim, Mrs. Vivian Osakwe, a primary school teacher in Obiaruku, said that the attackers, numbering five, took to their heels when they heard the sound of the motorcycle driven by another farmer in the reserve.
The said farmer, we learnt, took Mr. Osakwe to the hospital where he is presently receiving treatment in Obiaruku.

In an emotion ladened voice, Mrs. Osakwe said: “It is unfair. The government should come to our aid. As a primary school teacher, I have nothing. The three pints of blood were supplied by good Samaritans. We even had to buy one more. I am presently in need of the sum of N5, 000 to buy the drugs they require for his treatment immediately. I don’t have any cash on me.”
At the time we visited the hospital, the Unit Commander of 51 PMF, ASP Clement Edet, and the President General of Oruarivie Abraka Kingdom, Chief Emmanuel Idogho were around to get firsthand information of what happened.
Meanwhile, after a recent visit by the Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Mustafa to Abraka, plans are underway to equip the vigilante in the area with 10 motorcycles to aid continuous patrol in the area. The CP who is said to have pledged to purchase one of these, has made the money available.
However, the need for a good patrol vehicle for the police division in the area is yet to be attended to.
