Monthly Environmental Sanitation Holds On Saturday, Says DTSG
The Delta State Government has said that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of May will hold on Saturday May 26, 2018, between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 am.
According to the Director of Information, Paul Osahor, in a press release, “the exercise is in preparation for the Democracy Day Celebration in the State.
“During the period of the exercise there will be restrictions on the movement of persons and vehicles except those engaged in essential duties and inter-state journeys and those sitting for JAMB Examination.
“The State Commissioner for Environment, Barr John Nani and staff of the Ministry and other relevant government agencies will monitor the exercise, while officials of the State Waste Management Board and Local Government Councils are to evacuate the resultant refuse to the approved government dump sites.”
The statement added: “Local Government council Chairmen in the state are to ensure that the exercise is observed in their Local Government Areas. Defaulters will be sanctioned by an appropriate mobile sanitation court which will be on standby during the exercise.”
He urged deltans and residents in the state “to use the period of the exercise to keep their surroundings and drainages clean.”
