The Imperatives Of Having Oshiomole As APC Chairman

AS IT IS TODAY
The PDP may seem much in disarray today, but I can tell anyone who cares to listen that, from that very first moment the PDP lost the Presidency to the APC – having enjoyed the munificence of power at the center for 16 consecutive years, largely to the detriment of the masses, their one wish and prayer – backed with unorthodox political schemings, has been to reclaim power at the center.
The quest for reclaiming power at the center by the PDP is such that, as it stands, the PDP is more than ready to concede all of the 36 States to the APC, and have just the control of the Presidency. Of course they know too well the powers of the Presidency, and that, in the usual manner of our politicians, before the cock crows by next morning, half the people would have cross-carpeted to the party that controls the Presidency.
If that be the case, then how well, and how prepared is the APC to ward off the advancing plots by the PDP, to see that the APC retains power, not just at the center, but to reclaim states that the PDP rigged from it in the last General Elections?
In games, as it is in politics, teams are advised to always field their best eleven (players). The time for experimenting should not be now, and must be jettisoned. Any serious business(s) that needs results requires serious-minded people who can deliver.
In the past 3 years of the APC as a party in government, we all know that it has struggled to build-on or even sustain the manner of goodwill that propelled it into office. Despite the many positive and visible changes to governance, by the ruling APC (that are quite different to what the PDP-led government did wrong for the 16 years that they took Nigerians on what I termed ‘leadership-by-deceit’ governance), the APC is still struggling to assert itself, and is vigorously kicking to sell its programmes to Nigerians and to the outside world. In what the Warri Boy would term “like play, like play”, the PDP is becoming bolder by the day, while, the APC – the government in power, is gradually losing it, and becoming what many have regrettably termed the ‘opposition party in power’.
WHY IS IT SO?
How come the APC is in power and the PDP is having fun with the ball in the 18 yard box of the APC?
Exploiting a very weak National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, and of course, the ‘general amnesic’ attitude of many Nigerians – who forget so soon, and are today, more than ever divided, religiously and ethnic-wise, the PDP has embarked on an over-ambitious mission to scandalize the APC, and paint it as the enemy of the Nigerian people; the PDP in the last 3years has been hell bent on getting on with propagandas that will bring to nothing the many positive and visible changes to governance by the ruling APC.
Despite the retinue of National and World Acclaimed Thieves it parades in its ranks, the PDP has all of a sudden, begun to see itself as the ‘real alternative’ to the APC government, forgetting like many out there, the light-fingered ‘merry-go-round’ type of governance they visited on Nigerians.
Granted that the out-going NWC structure of the APC was hurriedly assembled, but 3 years plus, is enough time to have ignited in them, the fire-brand instinct that is required of those who are the watch-dogs of a mandate, as was given to the APC by Nigerians.
There is therefore no doubt that, in the days, weeks, months, and years following its inauguration, and up till now, it has failed to live up to its expectations. A formidable NWC of the APC would have since seized, and taken hold of the ‘political armoury’ from the political enemies from within. Rather, these set of NWC members, led by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has carried on perturbed by the ills of those political enemies from within, and graduated to playing deaf and dumb to the negative antics of the PDP on its (APC’s) political fortunes. The Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC suddenly forgot that they all owe their relevance and political survival to how Nigerians perceive this present APC government. They have failed to disarm the political enemies from within, and have handed the APC armoury to the enemies from within who are sympathetic to the opposition. So how does the out-going APC NWC planned to have won the war? The gentility and decorum displayed by the out-going Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC, in the face of the many unorthodox political provocations, and audacity by the opposition, are just too numerous to be over-looked. The APC cannot mortgage or sacrifice its political survival at the expense of pleasing those who have shown that they are neophytes in the act of ‘Nigerian Politicking’ after 3 years plus in office.
As it is now, the APC can only tackle the default by formidably strengthening its weak national political structures.
Take it or leave it, I can confidently tell you that if the APC had a very robust and formidable NWC that is tactically aligned with the modus operandi of the APC, and also in the mood to offer the much needed strategic support (political back-bone) to the APC Presidency, as in Mr. President’s unique administrative plans, to ‘revive, rejuvenate, and reposition the country in its rightful place, then we won’t be singing this discordant tune, and I am very sure the PDP would still be covering its battered face in shame, and not boldly showing it to Nigerians in the way it is presently doing.
THE WAY TO GO:
Before now, a lot of persons were surprised to have learnt that in the face of the gross ineptitude of the out-going NWC, there were clamour by some misguided APC politicians to retain the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC for another one year (thank God that devious plan has now been jettisoned).
The question I had asked then was, who are those gaining politically or otherwise, with the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC in-charge, and who are those who stand to lose politically or otherwise, if Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is elected National Chairman of the APC.
Whereas the Nigerian masses and the APC as a ruling party, has been the loser politically and otherwise, and stands to lose more with the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC in-charge, those who have been gaining, and stands to gain more, with the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC in-charge, are the known enemies of the Presidency and the party –APC, from within and without, who have, in the past 3 years of this APC-led government, ensured that they continually frustrate efforts by the APC government to deliver the dividends of democracy to the Nigerian people.
Of course, they stand to lose big time, if Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is elected National Chairman of APC, and I can assure you that the Nigerian masses, the Presidency and then, the party –APC, shall gain in no small way from a NWC led by the ‘ever resilient, sagacious, dogged, and militant Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, who would be a round peg in a round hole.
LET’S LOOK AT IT MORE CLOSELY:
Senator Bukola Saraki and the crooked leadership of the NASS, stands to gain, and continue to gain big, at the expense of Nigerians, if the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC remains in office. It is no longer news that, under the watch of the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC, Bukola Saraki and his many likes, in the NASS, who profess APC in the day, and PDP at night, has taken hold of the soul of the APC-led government, frustrating every plan of this government to re-position the country.
With the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC in-charge, the NASS under the leadership of Bukola Saraki would deliberately continue to refuse to pass the National Budget as at when it should be passed for the benefits of the Nigerian masses.
We are now approaching May, 2018, and is it not funny that the NASS, which is mainly populated by members of the ruling APC, and under the leadership of Bukola Saraki (a professed APC member in the day, and PDP at night), is yet to pass a Budget that was submitted to the NASS in December, 2017. Instead of attending to the Budget, the leadership of the NASS is engaged in the celebration of impunity and lawlessness.
A lot of under-performing Ministers and Heads of Agencies would also be glad to have the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC in-charge, because, despite their failure in office (redundancy), they have largely remained in office, because the NWC has not lived up to its expectations of instigating the removal of such failed personnel from government. You wonder why there has not been a cabinet re-shuffling of Ministers or of major Heads of Government Agencies since the inception of this APC government? An effective NWC would have caused the APC government to do an appraisal and re-evaluation of its personnel once in a while, and if necessary, re-inject new personnel and ideas into the government. There is no doubt that this APC-led National Executive Council is long overdue for re-shuffling, just as the NWC is due to be replaced. However, as far as the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC and the many under-performing Ministers and Heads of Agencies are concerned, it should “see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil”. They believe the boat should not be rocked, even when the boat is slowly sinking as a result of their failure in office.
Another group of persons who would gladly stake their all, to have the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC remain in office, are the South-South PDP governors of Delta State, River State, and Akwa Ibom State.
The single thread that holds all of these State Governors together is the fact that they were all massively rigged into office, and also had their rigged elections sustained by the courts of the land, under the very ‘gentlemanly nose’ of the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC.
The Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC failed to rally around their own gubernatorial candidates, who were in the election tribunals and sensitize the court and the country, to any form of miscarriage of justice, as was later the case, in my opinion.
As all three State Governors approach their re-election bid – especially the Delta State Governor, their greatest nightmare would be to have a very combative, articulate and militant Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as the Chairman of the APC.
All three State Governors know that their plans to rig themselves into office with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as Chairman of the APC NWC will come to nothing, just as the APC Chairmen in these States are sure to receive the full support of the NWC under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in their bid to win their States for the APC.
The APC in Edo State did not retain their State and also retire all well-known PDP-heavy weights in Edo State, because of the support or politics from the likes of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC (who is also from Edo State, but solely due to the resilience, sagacity, and doggedness, plus the uncommon militant approach of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, that successfully discomfited the heavily financed, and well-oiled rigging machinery of the PDP in Edo State. As was reported then, the three South-south PDP Governors were the financial sponsors of the Edo State PDP quest to reclaim Edo State, with one of the State Governors reported to have spent as much as #3Billion to facilitate the planned rigging of the governorship election in Edo State.
In response to the above scenario, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was also said to have robustly assured the State Governor concerned, to very well, expect him to reciprocate in more than same measures, when the re-election bid of that State Governor comes up.
You now understand why I confidently said that these three PDP State Governors should be more than concerned, if not jittery that Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the in-coming Chair of the APC NWC. You can bet that they would do all in their power -(including sponsoring moles within the APC), to campaign to have the ever-gentlemanly approach of the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led NWC in place, as they carry on with their plans to rig themselves back into office. Just as the South-South PDP Governors are jittery, so also is the case with the National PDP as a party.
No doubt that the emergence of Adams Oshiomhole would mean goodbye to their quest to reclaim the Presidency. This undeniable reality was well captured by no mean person than Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who was quoted as saying that “he sincerely hope that his colleagues in the opposition will appreciate the implications if Adams Oshiomhole is elected National Chairman of APC at the coming convention”. Chief Femi Fani-Kayode went on to state that “unlike John Oyegun, Oshiomhole is no soft touch” Chief Femi Fani-Kayode claims he knows Oshiomhole well, and that Oshiomhole is a formidable and dangerous adversary.
Note that whereas Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is a known opposition figure, there are also plenty of ‘enemies within’ APC members at the National level and the State levels who would clandestinely or may even openly stick out their necks to work for, and trade-off their votes to the opposition when the Federal and States Elections come. Such stool-pigeons would also not be happy to have a no non-sense Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as National Chairman of APC.
We also know of some APC National Leaders and Ministers who parades themselves as ‘Super National Leaders’ and ‘Super Ministers’ within the present APC-led government, and are known to perpetually meddle in the affairs and workings of the party in States and Regions other than theirs.
These self-acclaimed ‘Super National Leaders’ and ‘Super Ministers’ would certainly have Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to contend with in his bid to reposition the APC to be able to flush out the enemies from within and without.
It is for the above reasons I have decided to support Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as the next Chairman of the NWC of the APC. I urge you to do same.
