DTHA Sapele Constituency: My Manifesto —Tuedor Jackson Akpevwe
Greetings all!!!
Today I want to talk about my MANIFESTO and its three focal points.
CHILD EDUCATION: The Good book says “Train up a child in the way he should go so that when he is old he will not depart from it.” It is trite to say that the first few formative years of a child are the most important. Statistics shows that a child can even become a genius if shown or taught complex things at a young age. A child has the capacity to speak 5 different languages before he or she is seven. My administration will focus on the training, education and tutoring of these kids in their formative years so as to imbibe, teach and grow them in a manner that will be beneficial to the society and the creation of such laws that will enable the betterment of child education.
“Do not train them to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.”-PLATO
TECHNOLOGY: We live in an era of technological developments and the age of SELF RELIANCE. People will be paid not according to their time, but how efficient they can be with the skills that they have. It is this requisite skill that technology brings to the table and we can increase the productivity of the youths in Sapele by creating LEGACY PROJECTS and digitalizing the polity which would aid everyone to achieve their full potentials in this jet age. It is simply said that IF YOU DONT USE THE COMPUTER, THE COMPUTER WILL USE YOU. And like Bill Gates said, “The intersection of law, politics, and technology is going to force a lot of good thinking.” My administration will fervently pursue the creation of enabling laws to help the polity develop, embrace and make good use of information technology which will go a long way to change the people of Sapele for the better.
WEALTH CREATION BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES: We underrate ourselves when we do not know what we are capable of. Each of us is born with God-given abilities to make things better, but sadly, the problem is not that some people aim too high and miss, but that most people aim too low and hit! They settle for less!! Education is the key and information is the door. The difference between the wealthy and the poor is information and these are found in wealth creation business opportunities which are everywhere only if you look close enough. I will create an enabling environment for the average safarian to change their poverty mindset, learn new skills, and create wealth for themselves and their family from using these skills instead of begging for crumbs and undue loyalty because a man is hungry. We all can be self-sufficient and self-reliant if we choose to change our mindset, learn and be free from hand-outs by our leaders who ought to be servants of the people. I leave you with the words of Maya Angelou- “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing, and then do them so well that people will be willing to pay you for it.”
All these I hope to achieve WHEN voted into political power with the help of God and you all my dear safarians.
MY CREED
I choose not to be a common man.
It is my right to be uncommon … if I can.
I seek opportunity … not security.
I do not wish to be a kept citizen,
(Humbled and dulled by having the State look after me.
I want to take the calculated risk,
To dream and to build. To fail and to succeed.
I refuse to barter incentive for a dole;
I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence;
The thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of Utopia.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence
Nor my dignity for a handout
I will never cower before any master
Nor bend to any threat.
It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid;
To think and act for myself,
To enjoy the benefit of my creations
And to face the world boldly and say:
This, with God’s help, I have done.
This is what it means to be an Entrepreneur!
It is our time to shine.
