Delta Assembly Approves Governor Okowa’s Request For N11Billion To Pay Major Road Contractors

Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 approved the request of the State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for the authorization of the defrayment of outstanding payment to major road contractors using certificate discount facilities.

The request for the N11Billion for the payment of major roads contractors in the State was contained in a letter from the Governor and read at plenary session by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and was approved by the House.

Also at plenary on Wednesday, the House gave nod to the Delta State Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP 2019-2021 as requested by the Governor in a letter to the House.

The Governor in a letter read by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who presided over plenary session on Wednesday wrote that; “I wish to respectfully inform the Right Honourable Speaker and Honourable Members of the Delta State House of Assembly that in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Law and the State’s desire to ensure appropriate financial management/allocation of the scarce resources, and in line with international best practices, the Ministry of Economic Planning has prepared the 2019-2021 Delta State Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP). This is the fourth rolling edition of the Strategy Paper”.

The request was approved by the House after it was debated upon.
