Sen. James Manager is the incumbent lawmaker representing the people of Delta South in the red chambers.
Sen. James Manager, a fourth term member of the house, is gunning for the fifth tenure, but the Itsekiri Nation is kicking against this move.
This was expressed recently by a faction of the Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, led by Comrade Weyinmi Agbateyiniro during a press conference in Warri.
The Itsekiri Youth leader at the press conference called on PDP leaders as well as Delta South leaders to call Sen. James Manager to order for him to jettison his fifth term Senatorial ambition for the Itsekiris.
The INYC said the Ijaws, Sen. Manager and the PDP leaders in Delta South Senatorial District should respect the rotation/zoning principle in the area.
The INYC also said all political agreements, compromises and resolutions reached as having been breached.
The INYC threatened to institute legal actions to recognize Ogidigben as the headquarters of Warri South-West Council as against Ogbe-Ijoh where it is currently situated.
This was exactly the cause of the Warri fratricidal wars in time past.
It is noted that, the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, an Itsekiri man who only decamped from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP is contesting the Delta South Senatorial Seat with other aspirants in the region.
In a swift reaction, the Ijaw Youth Cuncil, IYC, Western Zone, insisted that Sen. James Manager is contesting the fifth term saying, “the Itsekiris are the worst violators of power rotation in Delta State.”
in a statement signed by the Western Zone Chairman, Comrade Frank Akiefa, and his Secretary, Snr. Comrade Ebi Wonz said they are not against rotation/sharing of political offices.
They insisted that it must apply to all offices within a Local Government and Federal Constituency with multi-ethnic compositions.
