2-year-old Baby Found Dead In Abraka
By Daniel Dafe
Residents in ABRAKA today woke up to find an innocent 2-year-old male child dead and dumped very close to a transformer near Umono Street Junction, along the Old-Abraka Road in the University town.
Facts at the moment are still sketchy, but there are conflicting reports as to what could be the cause of the child’s death.
Why police sources revealed that confessional statements of the parents show that the child died of convulsion, eyewitnesses wondered why blood stains where found on the body of the deceased and even claimed that the genitals of the child were removed.
A family relative who spoke to Oasis Magazine under conditions of anonymity, said that something must be fishy, alleging that the parents might have used the baby for rituals.
The said source picked holes with the claim by the parents that a fight ensued between them after the father blamed his wife-to-be (though they cohabit at the moment) for the death of the child and then angrily dumped the dead baby at the location where the corpse was later found.
This source considered the statement as ridiculous, saying “does it mean that he trekked from his residence which is quite a distance to where the body was found dumped?”
He added: “The police must quiz the parents to know what led to the death of that innocent child.”
At the time of filling this report, investigation by the police has been concluded after the parents were invited by the police for questioning to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of their child.
Police sources have however debunked the rumour that the baby was used for rituals, saying those peddling such rumours are speculators.
