2019 Elections: Evance Ivwurie Alleges Intimidation Of Voters Loyal To PDP In His PU

The Delta State House of Assembly member representing Ethiope East Constituency, Chief (Hon.) Evance Ivwurie, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over the peaceful conduct of the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Hon. Ivwurie who spoke to journalists in Abraka immediately after voting, alleged that intelligence report at his disposal showed that some of the voters loyal to a political party, used the tactics of intimidation to scare away voters in his ward, Ward 2, Polling Unit 6, who were ready to vote for his party in the area.

His words: “The election delayed in my unit because there was an argument between INEC and my party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that we should have only one agent here. That took over an hour. This shows that INEC is not in charge here.

“I was also told that guns have been hidden around here by some persons. We are all from one family. I do not know who they want to kill. I have been preaching peace and tranquility. Let there be no intimidation and any form of harassment.

“I came in here and sat for over an hour while waiting for the materials to arrive to be able to vote. But, I appeal that anyone stockpiling arms and ammunition should take it away and I am appealing to the security agents to come and comb the environment.”

While expressing confidence in INEC, he decried the poor security arrangement made for the area and the late arrival of election materials.
