Create Riverine Areas Development Agency, Mulade Tells Gov Okowa

-Urges State Assembly To Give It Speedy Passage

Gbaramatu Kingdom born activist cum an environmentalist, Amb Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency consider the establishment of a Riverine Area Development Agency in order  to fast track development and give sense of belonging to riverine communities in Delta State.

According to Comrade Mulade, “it is imperative to state that the establishment of the Agency is overdue because DESOPADEC which is meant to develop oil producing host and impacted communities is being hijacked by government to compensate their political stooges.”

He noted that the riverine communities are the life wire and resource base of the state, but have been deliberately neglected by successive governments and failing to develop the riverine areas especially the hinterlands, adding that there is the for a special agency to address the underdevelopment challenges in the riverine areas of the state.”

The Niger Delta Gbaramatu son quipped that more than 90 percent of Delta State revenue from the oil sector are from the riverine communities of Delta State which when  passed the agency will tackle the underprivileged societal and government changes of riverine oil bearing communities of the state.

He appealed to Dr. Okowa and the incoming members of the Delta State House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency create the agency to fast-track development of the riverine communities.
