Ministerial List: Joe Omene Congratulates Festus Keyamo, Commends Buhari
By Daniel Dafe
The President General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Worldwide, Chief (Engr.) Joe Omene, has congratulated the fiery lawyer, Barrister Festus Keyamo (SAN), over his nomination as minister representing Delta State in the Federal cabinet of the Buhari-led government.
The list of 43 persons as ministerial nominees was read at Plenary today by Senate President, Ahmed Lawan.
According to Omene, Keyamo stood out during Buhari’s first term and was very optimistic that the vocal lawyer will do more in the new cabinet.
He reminded the ministerial nominee that ‘to whom much is given, much is expected,’ as he called on him to do more with this new assignment to the nation which is far weightier than the previous ones where he served as the Director of Buhari Campaign Organisation and the Spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging him to continue to fly the flag of Urhobo Nation high.
He added: “I congratulate every Urhobo son and daughter over this achievement. For a long time, I have been one of the few elites in Urhobo Nation that have continued to condemn the marginalization of Urhobo Nation by the powers that be both at the national and state levels. But now, it is a thing of the past, because President Buhari has countless times demonstrated his desire to see to the well-being of Urhobo ethnic group. Buhari’s love for Urhobo is the major reason why UPU and Urhobo Nation endorsed him for president.
According to him, the decision of the move of UPU to endorse Buhari was almost frustrated by some Urhobo traditional rulers and Urhobo PDP politicians in Delta State. He expressed joy that what UPU under his leadership stood for, which is for the progress of Urhobo Nation is gradually coming to pass.
“At first it was Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as Deputy Senate President, now it is Keyamo as a minister.”
He prayed for more good things to happen to and in Urhobo Nation, as he called on all Urhobo sons and daughters in and outside Nigeria to remain committed to given their best to the progress of Urhobo nation and Nigeria at large.
While also thanking President Buhari over his choice of Keyamo as a ministerial nominee, he called on him to remain bold and courageous as he commits himself to correcting the ills in Nigeria and solving her many problems.
