Mulade Sheriff Peace & Unity Cup: 1200 Ijaw/Itsekiri Youths Have Been Engaged, Empowered

The Organizer of the 2019 edition of the Ijaw / Itsekiri Peace and unity cup also known as Comrade ‘Mulade Sheriff Peace and Unity Cup’ says since inception of the competition from 2017 till date, it has empowered and engaged over 1, 200 youths across Ijaw and Itsekiri communities as part of  efforts to foster peace and unity especially among the people of Warri South-West, which has also helped to spur participants to be more congruous in doing things and also helped them explore new frontiers of life with new friends.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Local Organizing Committee, LOC, for the second edition of the football competition at CEPEJ headquarters in Osubi near Warri, Comrade Sheriff Mulade expressed joy about the successes the competition has brought in among Ijaw and Itsekiri communities of Warri South-West, adding that the “tournament was initiated to promote peaceful coexistence and build bridges of unity among the diverse ethnic nationalities, as well as discover football talents at the grassroot level in Warri Area and other parts of Delta State.”

Comrade Mulade a peace/human rights and environmentalist who is also the National Coordinator Centre For Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ quipped that the biennial football tournament will commence November 16 to November 30, 2019 at two centres, Ugborodo and Benikrukru.

He said: “The purpose of this gathering is to inaugurate the LOC for the second edition of the tournament that will coordinate and run the Peace and Unity Football Tournament, initiated by CEPEJ, from the 16th to 30th of November, 2019.” 

Comrade Mulade charged the members of the various committees to put in their best in order for a successful hosting, noting that the purpose of inaugurating the LOC for the tournament is for them to coordinate and assist to make the Peace and Unity Football Tournament initiated by the Center For Peace and Environmental Justice,  CEPEJ a huge success.

The LOC is chaired by Kenneth Waomucha, Deputy Chairman, Barr Val Ada Arenyeka and Secretary, Chief Jeffrey Ojogun.

Other sub committees include:

Security: Chairman, Chief Boro Opudu and Secretary, Hon Emiko Odin Etuwewe.

Contact/Engagement: Chairman, Michael Ikeogwu, Secretary Hon Emma Adun

Technical Committee: Chairman, Coach Esu Godfrey and Secretary, Lucky Sunday

Transport/Logistic: Chairman, Aboyewa Ikpotor and Secretary, Present Ipopo 

Welfare Committee: Chairman, Hon Bethus Ayetan and Secretary, Miss Omotsone Loveth. Members of this committee are Happiness Afuegbe, Omoboye Abosode and Seiyefa Aganbi 

Media and Publicity: Chairman, Comrade Azuka Chiemaka and Secretary, Alloyouis Okereke

Coordinator: Hon Paul Kirifede, Deputy Centre Coordinator, Akanbe Augustine and Sec Wisdom Pori.
