Delta Orientation Bureau To Partner Godswill Mmoye Arts Foundation

Director-General of the Delta State Orientation Bureau, Eugene Azuka Uzum Esq, has indicated interest of the bureau to partner the Godswill Mmoye Arts and Literary Foundation towards reawakening of the reading culture in the state.
Uzum gave the indication in his office when the President of the foundation, Mr. Godswill Mmoye, led some principal officers of the literary body in a courtesy visit to the bureau in Asaba.
The Orientation helmsman decried the continuous drop in the reading culture, particularly among students, saying that the sharp drop in the standard of education in the country could be largely attributed to the apathy in reading.
He commended the foundation for its proposed literary competition among students in the state, tagged: “Okowa Arts and Literary Competition in Delta State,” saying, however, that the competition should be organised in phases from in all the three senatorial districts for greater outreach and cost effectiveness.
Earlier in an address, Mr. Mmonye said that the bureau is a critical agency of the state government in the quest to actualise the Stronger Delta vision, adding that the foundation believed strongly in partnering the bureau to achieve its goals in the state.
He said that the foundation would strive to reawaken reading and writing spirit among students in the state, adding that reading not only broadens ones knowledge, but strengthens the thinking capacity of an individual which is necessary to proffer solutions towards the uplifting of humanity.
