As part of activities marking the birthday anniversaries of Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and Chief Barr. John Obukohwo Nani, a political pressure group, Aghwemutuwevwi Political Forum (APF), aimed at strengthening the grassroot structure of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and promoting the good deeds of the Delta State government, has distributed starter packs to graduating apprentices of randomly selected Fashion and Design and Hair Styling Training Centres in the three(3) Kingdoms in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state: Idjerhe, Mosogar and Oghara Kingdoms.

The group which was formed by loyalists of the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon. Barr. John Obukohwo Nani, the Aghwemuturhobo of Urhobo land, to amongst others things promote his distinct leadership sagacity in influencing people oriented and life impacting projects to the Local Government Area, embarked on the gargantuan humanitarian outreach and empowerment to randomly select graduating and outstanding apprentices in the training centres by doling out sewing machines and hair dryers which are meant to serve as start-up packs for the fortunate trainees, chosen as beneficiaries.

The uniqueness of the selection process of the beneficiaries was something that threw great surprise to the beneficiaries and admirers, because there was no pre-arrangement between the team and the beneficiaries. They were chosen at random, as the convoy of the Aghwemutuwevwi Political Forum (APF) team drove round the Local Government Area.

Commenting on the motivation behind the outreach, the Patron of the group, Mr Johnson Okpoh, averred that: “the act is meant to reverberate the kind heartedness, vision and focus of His Excellency, Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Grand Patron of the forum, Hon. John Obukohwo Nani whose birthdays they were celebrating.

He said: “The gesture is a way of reaching out to society and eulogizing the exemplary lifestyle, virtues, heroism and great deeds which the Governor and grand patron stand for and have always exemplified in all of their engagements and leadership responsibilities.”

Also speaking, the National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Moses MacIver stated that “the initiative was strategized to corroborate the SMART Agenda of the state Governor, Sen.( Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa in ameliorating the plight of the people and cushion the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the constituents.”

He substantiated the goal of the forum when he opined that: “Improving livelihood and changing people’s social status is the major aim of the Aghwemutuvwevwi Political Forum, as such, the forum will not relent in caring for the people and advancing the course of humanity.”

Hence, equipping the people with necessary materials needed for self resourcefulness and survival is the utmost goal of the forum.”

Moreover, he admonished the beneficiaries to use the opportunities accorded them to enhance themselves, achieve extraordinary feats and contribute their quotas toward nation building.

The beneficiaries who could not hide their joy thanked the group for their magnanimity and showered prayers on Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and Hon. John Nani.

Some of the beneficiaries include Avwerosuo Arigo (hair dryer), Fumilayo Adegor (hair dryer), Enor Ukueju (sewing machine), Odiri Ovedje (sewing machine), Catherine Young (sewing machine), Paradise Emakpor (hair dryer), Regina Onogba (sewing machine), Igho Anna (sewing machine), David Omamuyovwi (hair dryer), Happiness Sunday (sewing machine), Recheal Sobotie (hair dryer) and Precious Lawrence (sewing machine).
