Hon. Joyce Overah Laid To Rest Amidst Tears, As PDP Faithful Pay Last Respect

The remains of Hon. Onofekohwo Joyce Overah, the Honourable Commissioner who represented Sapele, Ethiope West and Okpe Local Government Areas on the board of DESOPADEC was laid to rest today in his country home in Sapele.

Late Hon. Joyce Overah’s final journey home began with a motorcade procession from Okparavero Memorial Hospital to Face to Face Assembly, Okuovwori, Sapele, where a funeral service was held for him.

During the church service, the officiating minister, Pastor Kelechi Joseph Ekugha who spoke on the message titled: “Preparing for death” said that death is inevitable.

He added that no life machine can prevent death, as everyone must pass through the gate of death when the time comes, and thereafter face judgement as it is appointed unto man to die once.

The remains of late Hon. Joyce Onofekowho Overah was thereafter conveyed to his country home at No.1 Overah Avenue, Off Shell Road, Sapele, Delta State where he was finally laid to rest.

At the burial to pay their final respect were members of the family which include Mr Alex Overah, Mr.Friday Overah, Mr Raymond Overah, Mr Paul Overah,Mrs Anthonia Overah, Mrs Honey Tega Overah, Mrs Ruth Raymond Overah, Miss Devyne Overah, Mastor Obaro Overah, Miss Emmanuella Overah, Master Wigho Overah and others.

Leaders of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) who graced the burial ceremony include Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; Chairman, PDP, Delta State, Chief Barr. Kingsley Esiso; Senior Political Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, Member representing Sapele Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Felix Anirah; Executive Chairman, Sapele Local Government Area, Chief Eugene Inoaghan; Special Project Director of Asaba International Airport, Hon. Austin’s Ayemidejor; Commissioner for Works Delta State, Chief James Augoye and Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources,Hon. Julius Egbedi.

Others are Chairman Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, Hon. Chief Ejaife Odebala , Chief Ighoyota Amori, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, Comrade Benson Okorodudu, Hon. Igho Adibor, Hon. Ovo Abeke amongst others.

Members of the board of DESOPADEC were not left out as they were ably represented by the Chairman, Board of DESOPADEC, Hon. Michael Diden; Managing Director, DESOPADEC, Chief Askia Ogie; Executive Finance Director and Adminstration, DESOPADEC, Chief John Obukowho Nani; Commissioner, DESOPADEC, Chief Vincent Oyibode and Commissioner representing Ughelli North, DESOPADEC, Hon. Kent Okiemutie, amongst other dignatries.

Mr. Raymond Overah who spoke on behalf of the family thanked everyone who took out time to grace the burial ceremony, adding that the vacuum that the late Hon. Joyce Overah left behind would be impossible to fill by anyone, just as he also said that the late Commissioner would be sorely missed by all who knew him well.
