Okpe Monarch Advises Ovwore People In Amukpe District Not To Relent In Their Developmental Initiatives
Calls On Their Children To Acquire Higher Educational Certificates For Better Job Opportunities
The Orodje of Okpe kingdom in Delta state, Major General Felix Mujakperuo retd has applauded the people of Ovwore Community in Amukpe District of Sapele local government area on their continous developmental initiatives that has transformed the area into a modern city.
The monarch who played host to Ovwore people that thronged his palace in their large numbers to appreciate him on the Chieftaincy title he gave to one of them (Chief Edward Otaweko Sajere from Okuo-Sajere axis), said he deeply appreciates the developmental efforts of his people including their Scholarship scheme that has changed the lives of many children in the community.
The Monarch said: “I am particularly impressed with the scholarship scheme you are giving out to the children every year. Please you people should not Relent on it at all because the programme has positively affected the life of many of our children.”
“It pains me to see that many of the Okpe people are not educated. For Ovwore community to train their children in the universities, at graduates levels, it is a very good thing which you should not stop. The more you continue to do this, other communities in the kingdom will begin to emulate this good gestures. It is my prayers for the leadership of Ovwore community for God to continue to give you good health and more wisdom to do the needful for your people,” he said.
“More of our children should be trained at all levels in educational institutions especially at the University levels so that when ever there is any available space, they could have spaces to work”.
Major Mujakperuo added, “Ovwore community has come to stay, others will certainly learn very fast from them. I am also commending the Atarhe 1 of Okpe kingdom, Chief Edward Otaweko Sajere with his people for remembering to visit me to express his appreciation for his chieftaincy title. I am also appreciating every member of the community who followed your chief down to my palace for the same purpose. You people should be law abiding and peaceful at all times so that you as a community can grow faster to be the envy of all. I pray for long life and prosperity for all of you.”
Some of the leaders of the community who addressed journalists soon after the visit, Mr G E. U Komori, Comrade Sunday Asini, said they appreciated the Orodje of Okpe kingdom for granting one of their sons a Chieftaincy title, Chief Edward Sajere two years ago.
Mr Komori admitted that the Orodje’s gesture was born out of the fact that the community is consistent in their developmental efforts and indeed needs a chief from that axis especially now that they have lost previous ones such as Chief Owin Sajere and others, stressing that the monarch sees too that they have over the years maintained the highest standard of peace and tranquility in Sapele Local Government Area.
Comrade Sunday Asini, who is also the Zonal Commander of Vigilante in Zone 1, Sapele, appealed to the youths of Ovwore to avail themselves the opportunity of the scholarship scheme in the community and go back to be trained in specialised field were they could fend for themselves tomorrow or still be engaged in any good vocational training which they in Ovwore equally give to the same people who are ready for it so that they could be free from criminal activities.
Comrade S. E. Okutele, Ex-president General Amukpe Community and the Adviser/Executive officer Oviorie community, Hon Samuel Ifude, Mr Emmanuel Atika including the incumbent President of Ovwore Community Bishop Elijah who also appreciated the Monarch for his good gesture remarked that they are happy that the most elderly man in Amukpe community who will be installed on the 4th of next month is from that axis too.
Mr Emmanuel Atika stated that “the Monarch’s encouragement has often time gives you the right direction to follow. We are happy that he is happy with us as you can see. We came to tell him that we are indeed happy with him, because he too is happy with us.what we are doing as a community, he is very satisfied with it and we came to him for this purpose.”
“We thanked him for his prayers. We also assured him that we will continue to do good for our people especially in the areas of scholarships to our children where he encouraged us to continue . He wants to see Okpe people coming on top. He wants to see more of the Okpes trained so that they can occupy any available space,” he added.
Chief Edward Ataweko Sajere appreciated the Monarch for conferring on him the prestigious title Known as the Atarhe 1, of Okpe kingdom, noting that he will continue to exhibit the highest standard of quality leadership to his people at all times.
He said: “I will use this opportunity too in appreciating the Ovwore people for assisting me in the training of my child as a medical Doctor through their Scholarship scheme. May God continue to bless and protect them.”
