#ENDSARS: Farouq Says Young Lives Matter’, Calls For Police Reforms

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq has backed the call for police reforms, as Nigerians take the streets to call for the scrap of SARS and other tactical teams over several reports of brutality and extortion.

The minister who said this in a tweet, added: “As a mother, sister & aunt I want to join ongoing calls for reforms in the police force. We need an urgent conversation that ensures the police do their work properly while keeping our young people safe and free from harassment. Young lives matter.”

Farouq who said that she has been deeply saddened by the reported loss of lives, called on the police to exercise caution and restraint in dealing with protesters.

Continuing, she urged every youth to eschew violence as they demand reforms.
