Auchi Polytechnic Alumni Association (APAA), Warri chapter has held her annual end of year ‘Family Party.’

The programme held on Sunday, January 10, 2021, as members of the association from all walks of life ignored the weather condition to attend the event.

Despite the heavy downpour shortly before the ceremony started, the event which held at Baileyz Hotels, along Enerhen road was a huge success.

It is [almost] traditional for Auchi polytechnic Alumni Association across the nation to hold their end of year party in the later part of every year, but the Covid-19 pandemic which distorted the flow of things, meant the event could not hold in 2020 hence it was shifted to 2021.

Such events give Apaarians an opportunity to wine and dine with fellow Alumni of Auchi polytechnic and in some cases reignite old friendship that might have turned cold as a result of distance between former classmates!

The president of APAA Warri chapter, Mr. Abel K’ Omolu a seasoned accountant in his opening speech welcomed all present to the chapter’s 2021 New Year/Family Party.

Mr. Omolu appreciated members who took out time to attend, saying it is indeed a dream that the family party is now a reality.

He stated that what APAA Warri Chapter could not achieve in the year 2020 due to paucity of funds (caused by the COVID-19 pandemic) is now a reality, noting that he was indeed overwhelmed by the financial contribution of members towards the success of this Family Party.

He reminded members of APAA Warri chapter of the rare feat achieved, having produced the current President General Worldwide (PG) in the person of Comr. Godspower Omadhebor and the National General Secretary in the person of Hon. Malik Abubarkar of the Association during the last general elections/AGM of the Association held at Auchi in February, 2020, adding that the chapter can also boast of a strong Board of Trustee (BOT) in the person of Pastor George Osademe.
Continuing, the President of the chapter said: “I wish to remind us of the motto of our alma mater which is “Hands and Brains for Development.” When we all positively make use of our hands and brains, the much desired economic development that has eluded Nigeria for hundreds of decades shall be actualized.”

Mr. Abel K’ thanked all financial donors for their magnanimity in surpassing the very lean budget, well wishers and members from sister chapters present, and the PG who also graciously has been providing the Warri Chapter, a befitting venue to hold her meetings, as well as all chapter members and invitees.

“It is our dream to make APAA Warri chapter first among equals in the annals of Auchi Polytechnic Alumni Association,” he added.

The president who spoke briefly, noted that the reason for the party is to wine, dine, make merry and network as a family and not for verbose speech giving.

On his part, the President General of Auchi polytecnic Alumni Association Worldwide, Comr. Godspower Omadhebor, gave a speech titled- “2021 ALL EYES ON APAA,” stressed that plans are on top gear to identify and incorporate more alumnus of the polytechnic for furtherance of the giving back roles of old students to their Alma mater.

He said his administration hopes to work hand in hand with the school authority to actualize the key project of building a 400 bedsitter apartment in a hostel complex of 20 blocks, which he said will be well equipped and completed with state-of-the-art facilities.

Comr. Omadhebor noted that the basis of the APAA hostel complex is first to solve accommodation problem and help to enhance the smooth take off of the City University of Technology, Auchi, at the appointed time.

He allayed fears of paucity of funds regarding the funding of the landmark project, with the assurance that the project funding will come from Alumni members of high reputation shall individually build and own hostel block, which essentially makes it a subsidized commercial venture,
Comr. Omadhebor enthused that a reputable real estate company based in Abuja and a first generation Nigerian bank are already anxious to partner with APAA to actualize this 60th anniversary legacy project.

He congratulated the acting Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Engr Mustapha Zubair on his deserved ascension and appointment to the position.

He advised members of Warri chapter on the need to show more commitment, comradeship and enthusiasm because the last successes in the last AGM have placed them in the limelight already.
