Herdsmen Menace: A Clarion Call For Niger Delta Security Summit Now

I am committed to fighting the cause of my people, the people of the Niger Delta. I will join hands with all men of goodwill to see to the restructuring of Nigeria because it is becoming convincingly glaring that this contraption called Nigeria is no longer working.

I am committed to continuing to resist all forms of evil, oppression and tyranny just as I have been doing at great risk to my life and liberty for many years.

I have said this before and will continue to say it that the leaders of the south south are taking for granted the danger been posed by the invasion of our land by Fulani herdsmen.

Our people are being slaughtered in cold blood everyday in every state of the Niger Delta. We now live under the threat of Fulani herdsmen. Our women and girls are either raped or killed in thier farmlands. Our forest are already overtaken by this blood thirsty demons of war yet we all feign ignorance by maintaining a conspiratorial silence.

What are our leaders and Government doing to protect us from this carnage? We now live under the constant fear of Fulani herdsmen who are closing on us on a daily basis. They have taken over our forest, roads and now they are coming to take over our towns and cities.

We must do someting to secure our land and the lives of our people irrespective of our religious and political affiliation.

The first thing that I will NOT do is rejoice over the death of an adversary or foe. We want peace in Nigeria but not at the expense of the lives of our people.

There are some lines that we must NEVER cross lest we lose our sense of decency and humanity.

We must as a people have the courage of our convictions, stand up for our beliefs, bow to no man, comfort the sad, speak for the voiceless, empower the weak and confront the powerul with the sword of truth and the gallantry we are known for?

The greatest problem we face as a people today is that of betrayal. There is no southern leader in our history that fought for the unity of our people and Nigeria that did not end up regretting it and paying a heavy fall. We must not allow this to happen again.

The Niger Delta people have a tragic history of betraying thier people most often than not for pecuniary reasons. They forever want to remain apologists of the northern hegemony.

Is it not ironic that the same Isaac Boro that fought for Niger Delta republic and later led the Federal forces against Biafra in other to keep Nigeria one was himself executed by the Nigeria that he loved so dearly.

Ken Saro Wiwa, the celebrated poet who was also from the Niger Delta, did he not suffer the same fate when he was betrayed by his own people in the fight to better and protect the lives of his own Ogoni people?

Even our own Chief James Onanefe Ibori, did he not suffer same fate in the hands of the cabal when he was incarcerated for so many years on account of his strong stance for resource control?

It is time to unite in defence of our land and heritage. We are fed up with killings in the South South. The Govenors must have the courage to present a common security position to Mr. President. We must be able to put together a regional outfit like the ESN in the East and Ametokun in the South West to take care of the security challenges of our people since government has failed in its constitutional responsibility to do so.

I therefore call on the Governors of the south south, PANDEF, freedom fighters of the region to as a matter of urgency call for NIGER DELTA SECURUTY SUMMIT to discuss the way forward.

We should support whatever the enemy opposes and oppose whatever the enemy supports.

it is only when we do this things we will be able to access paradise in peace and leave a legacy that generations yet unborn will be proud of.

May God help us and hear our cry.
