JUST IN: NANS Condemns Hike In DELSU Tuition Fees

The umbrella body governing all Nigerian students, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has condemned the increase of tuition fees by the management of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

Recall that the management recently increased the school fees to be paid by students.

Although no official announcement has been made by the institution, some students said they were shocked to find out when they went to the school’s portals that there was a hike in fees with students to pay as much as three times of the old rate.

But, in a statement on Sunday signed by Chika Kessy Ossai, Director For Special Duties, Zone B and NANS leader, Delta State, the student body said: “We have received several reports from students of Delta State University, on the alleged Increment of tuition fees by DELSU Management, just as we condemn such act at this time of pestilence, we also urge all the students to be law abiding as NANS will exhaust all ‘Cs’ of Aluta to see that the School Fees is reversed to status quo.”

“Most Assuredly, the leadership of National Association Of Nigerian Students and the students community In Delta State are in top gear following rumors of increment of tuition fees in Delta State University towards ensuring that the fees returns to status quo,” the statement added.

Furthermore, NANS leadership in Delta State also thanked all DELSU students and other well meaning Nigerian students for being resolute, steadfast and equally raising dissenting voices against the rumoured hike in tuition fees, just as they urged them to be law abiding to maintain peace and order.

“We reassure the Delta State University students and Delta State students community in general of our unflinching resolve to tackle the challenge and all issues resolved amicably,” NANS said.

Meanwhile, the student body called on other sister unions to partner with them to return the fees back to status quo.
