Olu Of Warri: Ekiti Traditional Ruler Pledges Renewed Ties With Itsekiris, Eulogizes Ogiame Ikenwoli

The traditional ruler of Gbomina Kingdom of Ekiti State, His Royal Highness (Barr.) Rufus Olarewaju Ajayi, Arilewola Obagbaja, on Tuesday led a delegation of his Chiefs to the Palace of the Olu of Warri in Delta State on a condolence visit over the transition of the immediate past Olu, His Majesty Ogiame Ikenwoli.

Describing him as a remarkable bridge builder, the Ekiti monarch also acknowledged the late Olu of Warri as “a great man of peace, who promoted peace all through his life time.”

According to the visiting Ekiti monarch, the late Olu of Warri did a lot to promote unity between the Yorubas and the Itsekiris.

While noting that he was in the royal Palace of Warri to condole with the family of the late monarch, palace chiefs, and the entire people of Iwere kingdom on the passage of their well-loved king, the Gbomina Ekiti royal father pledged to keep up the good relationship between Itsekiris and Yorubas.

Oba Rufus Olarewaju Ajayi who was accompanied by some high chiefs of Gbomina Kingdom noted with delight that the peaceful reign and togetherness being preached by Ogiame Ikenwoli was well acknowkedged across the nation.

This, he said, made his delegation decided to come all the way from Ekiti to pay their condolences.

The Oba of Gbomina Kingdom reminded all that both kingdoms are no doubt related in history, and will continue to build lasting relationship between the two kingdoms.

Furthermore, he also assured that they will be fully be part of the burial process of the immediate past Olu of Warri.

Responding, the regent of Warri Kingdom, Prince Emmanuel Okotiebor, who led some notable chiefs of the Palace in receiving the visiting monarch appreciated the kind gesture of Gbomina Kingdom and the entourage, saying that “the visit goes to show the true relationship between both kingdoms.”

Adding that it further tells that they are not alone at this times.

The regent further commended the royal delegation for the assurance of playing indelible part in the ongoing funeral rites for the late Olu of Warri.
