VGN Boss Appeals To Sapele LGA Chairman, Others For Patrol Vehicle To Combat Crime

The Commandant of Sapele zone 2, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, (VGN), Mr Asini Sunday, has appealed to the Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Chief Eugene Inoaghan, the Duke of Amukpe community and other well placed sons and daughters of Sapele to buy them a patrol vehicle.

Mr Asini who addressed journalists in Sapele, appreciated those who donated to them on the 29th of September, 2021, at Songhai farm Amukpe-Sapele during their launching ceremony which he claimed, “recorded a very poor turnout.”

He said they require about a million naira for a fairly used Sienna bus as their operational vehicle, emphasising that they cannot chase criminal elements on foot except with a good vehicle at their disposal.

The VGN boss while appreciating the efforts of the Sapele Divisional Police Officer, CSP Harrison Nwanbueze, whose effective collaboration has reduced crime in the area to its barest minimum, applauded the councillor Ward 13, Hon Samuel Ifude, in the area who has equally aided their operations significantly.

He revealed instances where they rescued kidnapped victims and other robbery victims in the area also with the support from the police, appealing that they will do better with a functional patrol vehicle.

He attributed the successes they have recorded so far in recent times to the doggedness and prompt response from the Sapele DPO, from time to time without fail, remarking that for the first time in many months, Sapele residents can sleep with their eyes closed.

He added that “now that we are in the yuletide season, we all require more vigilance, support from members of the public to chase this undesirable elements from our midst. It is with the support of the people that we can succeed.”

He concluded as he said, “I am using this medium to appeal to all sons and daughters of Sapele local government area, well placed individuals resident in Sapele, the council chairman, those we invited but could not come, to donate generously towards the purchase of the Sienna bus. What we realised from that event is grossly inadequate since those we expected did not come.”
