We’ll Overcome Security Challenges In Ethiope East, Says Chairman

Chairman of Ethiope East Council Local Government Area, Delta State, Hon. Victor Ofobrukueta, has assured residents in the area that the security challenges they are facing with the upsurge of criminal activities will soon be a thing of the Past.

The council boss who spoke to Oasis Magazine on Tuesday during a phone conversation, while reacting to the shooting of the councilor representing Ward 5, Hon. Jude Ochuko Adjekpogu by suspected Fulani herdsmen, added that they were on top of the matter.

He continued: “I just finished two different security meetings all geared towards taken decisive actions against criminals. It is a sad one that one of the councilors was shot,” adding that the situation of Ethiope East residents being terrorized will soon be brought under control.

According to him, those that they are suspecting to be part of a criminal cartel and behind the criminal operations in the area are under close monitoring.

Asked if the bad Eku-Abraka road and bad spots along Warri-Eku road should be blamed for the rise in abductions and similar crimes, he said: “The major factor is Christmas is coming and criminals want to get money without working.

“The bad roads have always been there but now there is a rise in crime and so we cannot say it is the bad roads.”

Furthermore, he said that he has given marching orders to the police and the vigilante to tackle the criminals and bring them to book.
