Council Boss Reacts As Fire Razes Section Of Popular AT & P In Sapele

Chairman, Sapele Local Government Area in Delta State, Hon. Eugene Inoaghan, has reacted to the fire incidence that occured on Tuesday evening in the popular African Timber and Plywood, ATand P Sapele .

Eyewitnesses said the fire which was noticed at about 8.05 pm was seen from SEPLAT company end, that is directly opposite the wood yard and spreading to the sawmill department of the ancient timber company.

Speaking to journalists, the council boss who was at the scene of the incidence and expressed shock over the disaster, said they were yet to ascertain the cause of the fire, saying that it was sad to see an investment of such magnitude brought down by fire.

He said: “People are working there so we are guessing maybe there was light and they forgot to put it off or something of that nature.”

He continued: “Although we have called fire fighters from Seplat and Delta State Government, one has came and left. He said he is going back to refuel and come back to finish off the fire.”

Asked what section of the factory was affected, he said the said building housed heavy equipment, which shows that the fire left a major damage.

At the time of this report, attempts to put out the fire failed to yield result.
