…Passes Vote of Confidence On Ikeogwu Led Administration

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ughelli Correspondents chapel, has frowned at claims by the Warri Correspondents Chapel of the union that Delta Central Senatorial district is part of its coverage area.

It could be recalled that the Warri Correspondents Chapel in a communique after its meeting on Monday, stated that Delta Central Senatorial District was part of it’s coverage area.

Irked by the claim, the Ughelli Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in a communique at the end its emergency meeting held on Tuesday at the Chapel’s secretariat in Ughelli, Delta State faulted the claim by their sister chapel.

The communique signed by the chapel’s Chairman, Comrade Sunday Apah and Secretary, Comrade Matthias Ogbagah read: “Congress frowned at claims by the Warri correspondents chapel that Delta Central Senatorial district is part of it’s coverage area.

“If this claim is true, where is the coverage area of Ughelli Correspondents chapel whose members are spread across most local government areas in Delta central?

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ughelli Correspondents chapel covers Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Okpe, Udu, Ethiope East and part of Uvwie LGAs.

“That we have been silent on the continuos encroachment of our coverage areas by our sister chapel does not portray us as weaklings, but rather borne out of the need to see all journalists as members of the same union.

“Congress emphasized that the Ughelli Correspondents chapel does not have any issue with the State government in Delta Central, it’s major coverage area; rather, it has been enjoying a robust relationship with the State government.

“Congress expressed appreciation to the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu and the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika for their harmonious relationship and support to the Ughelli Correspondents chapel.

“Congress also advised all aspirants in Delta Central District, across all political parties to shun campaigns of calumny in the build up to the 2023 general elections.

“Congress passed a vote of confidence on the Comrade Micheal Ikeogwu led administration of the State Council of the Union”.
