Political tension hits the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bayelsa West as Sen. Douye Diri, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, favors the current Bayelsa State Environmental Chairman and House Of Representatives Aspirant, Hon. Tolu Amatu as the anointed candidate of the party for the forthcoming House of Representatives election in Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency.

Recall that the Member representing the fabulous characters of Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Fred Agbedi picked a senatorial expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for the forthcoming Bayelsa West Senatorial election.

The Serving Congressman, Hon. Agbedi was directed by Gov. Diri to pick house of representatives expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for third tenure in the national assembly, creating the vacuum for the senator representing the senatorial district, Sen. Henry Seriake Dickson to be reelected.

Investigations indicate that the serving Federal Lawmaker picked the house of representatives expression of interest and nomination forms which various Ward Leaders, Stakeholders of the Party signed the nomination form and unanimously agreed to be used as a Consensus Candidate and be reelected to the National Assembly.

Few days to the party primaries, reports from reliable sources revealed that Gov. Diri has picked the current state environmental chairman and house of representatives aspirant, Hon. Tolu as a Consensus Candidate against the reelection of the serving member representing the Federal Constituency, Hon. Agbedi in few days to the party primaries.

Investigations revealed that the Governor’s decision in favor of the Environmental Chairman, Hon. Tolu against the Serving Federal Lawmaker, Hon. Agbedi was the fact that the Federal Lawmaker worked against the Candidature of Gov. Diri in the 2019 the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship primaries.

While speaking with the leadership of Bayelsa West PDP Stakeholders Forum, Chief Allen Peremobowei, condemned the actions of the governor considering the contributions of the serving member to the party, stressing that such actions tends to destroy the cordial working relationship among members of the party in the senatorial district and beyond.

Chief Peremobowei further appealed to the governor to create a free level playing ground for all contestants of the party vying for the office of house of the representatives in the forthcoming party primaries, stressing that such decision will strengthen the peace and unity among members of the party.
