An unidentified man was on Monday found dead and hung on a tree in the university community of Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Oasis Magazine gathered that the lifeless body of the deceased who had a red cloth tied around his neck and bound to the tree, was found in the early hours of the day close to the overhead bridge of Urhuovie-Abraka.

.Also, while some said he had a piece of red cloth in his pocket, others said it was a red cap.

Although the circumstances that led to his death were still sketchy, many believe he may be a traditionalist that disappointed his clients and they had to teach him a lesson.

A source said: “This is a clear case of assassination. If it was suicide, his feet will not be touching the ground. It was all stage-managed to make it look like he killed himself.”

Another source who visited the scene of the incidence said there were traces of car tyres that may have been used to bring the dead man to the area before hanging him on the tree.

Adding: “The fact that no one has yet identified the dead man shows that he is not from Abraka.”

Meanwhile, the police said: “We cannot tell if it is suicide or murder.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, who spoke to Oasis Magazine via a telephone conversation, added that police investigation will unravel what led to the middle-aged man’s death.
