Group Blames Gov. Diri For Resignations, Defections Of PDP Members In Bayelsa

The resignations and defections of leaders, stakeholders and supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Bayelsa State has been making the rounds in press media and social media platforms which has drawn the attention of so many people wondering the reasons behind the resignations and defections from the ruling political party in the State.

Bayelsa PDP Progressive Youths Forum has condemned in strong terms of the recent resignations and defections of leaders, stakeholders and supporters of the party to other political parties, stressing that the party leadership should swing into action in resolving lingering issues of the party in no distant time to curb further resignations and defections of members from the party.

Group Blames Gov. Diri For Resignations, Defections Of PDP Members In Bayelsa

Investigations indicate that the recent resignations and defections of members of the PDP in Bayelsa State, is as a result of the inability of the Prosperity Government led by Governor Douye Diri to resolve lingering issues of the party which resulted from the neglect of key stakeholders of the party without giving them a sense of belonging in his administration.

Reports reveals that the State Secretary of the Party, Hon. Gesiye Isowo who is a cousin brother and close political ally of the Governor has being running the affairs of the Party as a family business since the resumption of the present administration, stressing that the Party State Chairman and other members of the State Working Committee had been neglected and sidelined in the affairs of the Party.

Some party critical stakeholders in their resignation letters stated categorically that they left the party because, the party leadership does not appreciate their efforts and contributions to the party, stressing that they could not have stayed in a party where few people who are cabinet members segregates those who have sacrificed so much for the party over the years.

Other sources reveals that elders and high profiled leaders of the party has being trying their possible best in resolving lingering internal issues of the party resulting from nonrecognition, segregation and lack of sense of belonging of critical stakeholders of the party by the Governor Douye Diri led Prosperity Government.

The prestigious group Coordinator, Hon. Perekeme Oyinkuro stated categorically that the resignations and defections of members of the party has nothing to do with any other leader of the party as some sources claims but, rather as a result of the inability of the current Governor, Senator Douye Diri to resolve lingering issues of the party since resumption in office.

It is important for the general public to recall the resignations and decamping of members of the party started from the Governor’s Local Government Area, where some of his aides joined other political parties, which was a clear indication that there were cracks in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the State that needed to be handled.

Reports reveals that there will be more resignations and defections of critical leaders, stakeholders and supporters of the party in the nearest future, following the Governor’s inability to resolve lingering internal issues of the party which to a large extent resulted from the state and national assembly party primary elections in the State.
