Bozimo Reaffirms Advisory Role Of Justice Ministry In Delta

Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Isaiah Bozimo Esq, has reaffirmed the avowed commitments of the Ministry of Justice in the state to continue to play key advisory role to the state government, especially in the implementation of sensitive policies.
Mr. Bozimo stated this in Asaba during an interactive session with the Delta State Youth Parliamentarians, who paid a visit to the Ministry of Justice.
He informed them of the three major arms of government, adding that as youth parliamentarians, they were in the Legislative arm.
Mr. Bozimo, who suggested that it was important for them to also visit the Chief Judge of the state, stated that the Ministry of Justice was in the Executive arm of government.
He recalled that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 ( as amended ) had made it compulsory for each of the arm to operate independently, explaining that the Ministry of Justice had been contributing in no small measure towards the implementation of government policies.
The Attorney-General stated that it was the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice to advise the state government against any unconstitutional and illegal executive bills.
He further told them that the ministry through the office of the Department of Public Prosecutions, handled all criminal cases in the state as guided by the Delta State Administration of Criminal Justice Law which was passed in 2017.
He explained further that the process of amending the current Administration of Criminal Justice Law had been kick started and at the end when the amendment was passed by the Delta State House of Assembly, Deltans would be better off for it.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths Development, Ms Ngozi Mogbolu, represented the Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwuyenga at the event.
She stated that the purpose of the visit was to expose the parliamentarians to the workings of Government through interactive session with the Attorney-General of the state in order for them to be abreast with the activities of the Ministry of Justice.
She disclosed that the youth parliament would also visit the Chief Judge of the state, including other departments of the state government.
In his contributions, Dr George Ohwoekehwo, Speaker of the Youth Parliament, explained their various activities in details, especially the lessons derivable from being a member of the parliament.
He revealed that being a memberavailed one of the opportunity of knowing legislative processes faster in the event that one eventually became a legislator in the near future.
Membership of the group cuts across the 25 Local Government areas of Delta State.
