I Will Not Deviate From The Legacy Laid By IDSG Predecessors - Okolo

The Chairman, Ilaje Development Summit Group, Delta State Chapter, High Chief Eko Isinmi Okolo said he would not deviate from the legacy laid down by past leaders of Ilaje body as he was prepared to promote more unity and togetherness among the people.

High Chief Okolo stated this over the weekend when Ilaje Development Summit Group, Delta State chapter was inaugurated in Federal Government Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area Delta State.

He said the Delta State branch of the body was inaugurated in order to foster unity, speak with one voice on the issues affecting their people adding, in so doing, they would be able to benefit what is dued to them from the state and the federal government.

He said: “We inaugurated this body in Delta State in order to work together, and speak with one voice on the issues which affect our people both in our land and Delta State in particular and Nigeria at large”.

High Chief Okolo who promised to carry all executive members and the people along in the course of his duties, charged all sons and daughters of Ilaje origin not to rest on their oars but co-operate with him in order for him to achievethe aims and the objectives of the body.

He said: “As a Chairman,l can not do it all alone hence l need the co-operation of all our people to make us achieve the purpose of this organization”.

High Chief Okolo who expressed joy for chairing the body, said, he is ready to work with his executive members just as he said, he welcomes ideas from the entire people to the group in order to put the body on a good footing.

He thanked the people especially those not of Ilaje origin that were able to grace the occasion despite their busy work schedule and prayed God to bless them abundantly.

On his part, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse lll said the Itsekiri as a kingdom is proud to have affinity with llaje people and even the Yorubas, adding, they are their brothers and sisters.

He said the Itsekiri would continue to synergise with Ilaje people in whatever they do to promote peace, growth and development in the Delta State and the country at large.

While appreciatimg the group for taking this step, the Royal Majesty, Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse IIl charged them to keep this association up just as he said one of these days, they would also invite llaje to grace their occasion.

He said: “l congratulate you for this initiative and I urge you to keep the flag flying in this direction.”

On his part, the Executive Administrator of Ilaje Development Summit Group,Rev. Sola Adebayo while administering the oath of office of allegiance on the new executive, charged them to carry out their duties diligently just as he said, the task is not rewarding financially rather they would commit their hard earned money to ensure the realisation of the body’s aims and objectives.

He added that they should not listen to distrators but be focused and know that they are there for the good interest of the entire people.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Chairman of the occasion who is the President, Warri Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WACClMA), Chief Richard Akaighe said the Itsekiri as a nation which he partly belongs can not be separated from llaje as they have affinity.

He said the Ilaje Development Summit Group is a welcome development and urged them to build the structure put down for the day.

He charged the executive to work assiduously to ensure that the organization achieves its aims and objectives, adding that the Warri Chamber of Commerce and Industry would support them in any way possible to actualise their objectives.

He said: “The inauguration of IDSG Delta State Chapter is a welcome development and l urge the executive to build on the structure laid down today to see that the people move forward.”

The occasion was graced by personalities among whom are Chief Omolubi Newuwumi, traditional rulers of llaje, among others. The highlight of occasion was the award of certificates to executive members, launching of llaje Women/ Youth Co-operative Society and cultural dances: Biripo Cultural Dance and music supplied by Dr. Rabbi Shina and his Excel Music Band among others.
