2022 Flood: IDU Appreciates All Donors To IDP Camps

The President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Professor Chris Akpotu, has appreciated the good spirited individuals and groups for partnering with government towards the provisions of palliatives/support to the various IDP Camps in Isoko Nation.

Akpotu, gave this commendation on Saturday 15th October, 2022, at IDU Secretariat, Unity House, Oleh in Isoko Local Government Area of Delta State, in a strategic meeting where plans/actions were carried out to reduce the flood anxiety already ravaging our people.

He emphasised that, the passion displayed to come to the plight of our people, no doubt, is a great humanitarian gesture, which is prescribed by the scriptures to be our brother’s keeper on the account that God is love (Mathew 25:31-40), putting aside every reckless sentiments.

Recall that IDU, ab initio, as Isoko Apex body had passionately appealed to individuals, Isoko sons/daughters and organisations on the dire need to come to the rescue of those at IDP Camps, and also help in evacuating stranded victims with trucks from the flood prone zones.

According to him, this call was to steer the heart and direction of donors to the needy. As we stand, IDU is most grateful to this collaborative exercise of participation by good spirited individuals and groups, particularly, Engr. Daniel Omoyibo, aka DANMOTECH, Isoko Flood Initiatives, Pastor Jonathan Ukodhiko, Hon. Ferguson Onwo (Majority Leader), Odio Bashorun Askia Ogieh, MD, DESOPADEC, Isoko South/North LG Chairmen, Hon. Victor Asasa, Hon. Christian Othuke Iteire, and others unknown. This participation had proven right our concern.

Conclusively, Isoko people recognized with gratitude these feats, and we are elated therefrom. We do appreciate all the efforts to make the camp comfortable for flood victims through donations of relief materials, food and non food items to camps and communities. While we pray God to reward this “donorship initiative,” we urge other organizations/individuals/NGOs to emulate same and/or key into this rescue agenda with a view to ameliorating the effects of the flood, Prof. Akpotu added.
