DELSU: Ogege Defeats Atubi To Emerge Dean Faculty Of Social Sciences

The academic staff members of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Delta State University, Abraka, has elected Prof. Sam Omadjohwoefe Ogege as Dean of the faculty for the next 2 years.

The election which took place on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the faculty’s hall during the Faculty Board meeting was conducted by the faculty staff.

Prof. Ogege contested the Deanship alongside Prof. Augustus Atubi of the Department of Geography and Regional Planning and polled a total of 44 votes as against Prof. Atubi’s 22 votes to emerge winner of the election.

Supervised by the Faculty Officer, Mrs. Christy Egbowawa, the election was a secret ballot with departments of the Faculty taking turns to cast their votes.

Departments who also verified their staff for the election, were Sociology, Economics, Mass Communication, Political Science, Psychology and Geography.

Also, the Faculty representatives of Sciences, Management Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Art, Education, Pharmacy, Engineering, Law and Clinical Science also cast their ballots.

In his brief acceptance speech, the Dean-elect, expressed appreciation to members of the Board for entrusting him with their votes and solicited their support towards making the faculty the best in the university.

He promised to carry every one along in running the affairs of the faculty, stressing that he will not betray the confidence reposed in him.

Prof S.O Ogege will take over from Professor Atare Otite whose tenure as Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences ends December 28, 2022.
