By Clementina Wewele
Education has been said to be the key to sustainable success in human endeavours.
The assertion was given by the Rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe Oghara, Prof. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, during the 21st matriculation ceremony of the institution at the Chief Onanefe Ibori Auditorium.
Speaking on the importance of education, the rector told the newly matriculated students that education remained the bedrock of every successful man, adding that the saying that “school was a scam” should never be taken by the students.
He said the institution’s aim was to produce graduates who would compete favourably with their counterparts in any part of the world.

Biri said that graduates from the institution had not failed in the affairs of life as most of them were doing well.
He reiterated that the institution’s aim was not to produce job seeking graduates, but successful entrepreneurs and employers of labour.
The rector told them to stay away from all forms of immoralities, crime or breach of matriculation oath and urged them to use studying in the institution as a spring board to becoming successful entrepreneurs and employers of labour; thereby, being the pride of their parents, the polytechnic and the society
Prof Biri thanked the state governor, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, for his relentless and fatherly support to the institution and for giving him and his management team the opportunity to serve.
The highlight of the event was the taking of oath by the newly matriculated students.
