Girl Slumps, Dies After Overnight Party In Sapele

A young girl, popularly known as Iyabo, has slumped and died as she intended taking her bath in a compound at Urban Area in Sapele after an overnight party.

It was gathered that she woke up supposedly hale and hearty today but suddenly slumped and died as she entered the bathroom to take her bath.

An anonymous source alleged that Iyabo partied all night the day before but came home sober, and wondered what could have caused the sudden death, saying that she did not show any sign of sickness the day before.

The girl’s mother, popularly called Mama Iyabo, is a well-known Amala Ewedu food seller at Larboard Road, Sapele, lamented the sudden demise of her daughter but said that she took solace in Allah.

As at the time of filing this report, the deceased had been buried according to Muslim rites.

In another development, DELSU has extended the submission of first semester Continuous Assessments (CAs) for the 2025/2026 academic session. The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) who said this in an official memo, recalled that a circular dated 3rd February, 2026 was issued to Deans of Faculties on the submission of First Semester Continuous Assessments (CAs) for the 2025/2026 academic session, with the deadline set for Friday, 20th February, 2026. Adding: “Following appeals from some Deans of Faculties, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel O.Asagba, has approved a final extension of the submission deadline by one (1) week. “Accordingly, all Departments are required to forward their Continuous Assessments (CAs) to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on or before Friday, 27th February, 2026,” saying that “no further extension will be granted.” “Deans and Heads of Departments are requested to ensure strict compliance,” he said. Meanwhile, Deans of Faculties have been informed of the urgent need to submit the 100 Level result spreadsheets for the 2024/2025 academic session. According to Owamah, all Heads of Departments (HODs) are to download their respective 100 Level result spreadsheets from the University Result Engine and forward same to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) on or before Thursday, 12th February, 2026, for onward transmission to the Vice-Chancellor.
