Agbarha-Otor: 319 New DELSU Students Matriculate At Michael And Cecilia Foundation College Of Education

Michael and Cecilia Foundation College of Education (MCFCOE) Agbarha-Otor, in affiliation with Delta State University, Abraka, on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 matriculated 319 new students spread across ten Education Degree Departments (English Education, Integrated Science Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Mathematics Education, Business Education, Economics Education, Social Studies Education, Computer Science Education and Educational Management).

Welcoming the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka and other dignitaries to the Matriculation Ceremony, the Provost of the College, Professor Mrs. Grace N. Okorodudu, thanked God for the opportunity given to her as the Provost of the College to witness the matriculation ceremony of a new set of students of Delta State University, Abraka at the College.

She expressed profound gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Andy O. Egwunyenga, for the ‘unqualifiable support’ the College had received from him.

She eulogized the President of MCFCOE, Dr. Mrs. Cecilia Ibru (MFR, OFR) for her contributions to the growth of Education in Nigeria and called on other eminent citizens of the country to emulate her, stressing that ‘’if she had not taken the bold step to establish the College, we will not be here.

’’The Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Rosemary N. Okoh, in his Speech congratulated the students for being among the few chosen ones from the many who applied to study in Delta State University, Abraka, a University prided as the best in South-South Nigeria and 22nd in the ranking of all Universities in Nigeria.

He thanked the Visitor to the University and Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, for providing the University with the wherewithal to operate successfully.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated immensely the founders of MCFCOE for establishing the first private College of Education in the State.

He admonished the students to adhere strictly to the tenets of their matriculation oath and eschew all vices as the University has zero tolerance to vices such as cultism, examination malpractice, sexual harassment and others.

The Vice Chancellor ended his speech with a prayer for the students to succeed and graduate in record time in their voyage to acquire knowledge in Delta State University, Abraka.

The highpoint of the Ceremony was the administration of Matriculation Oath on the students by the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Rufina U. Ufiofio, who was represented by Miss Juliet Unuafe, Deputy Registrar (Senate) and the formal admission of the students into Delta State University, Abraka by the Vice Chancellor.

In his vote of thanks, a happy Mr. Eduvie Godspower Oghenegweke (Biology Education Department), on behalf of the matriculated students thanked the Vice Chancellor for finding them worthy to be students of Delta State University, Abraka and promised they would not breach their Matriculation Oath.

The Oath-Taking ceremony was witnessed by the parents and guardians of the students, Principal Officers of Michael and Cecilia Foundation College of Education, Agbarha-Otor and officials from Delta State University, Abraka.
