Ethiope East Council Boss Condemns Dredging Activities In Okuidjerhe, Calls For DTSG Intervention

In response to growing concerns from residents and landlords in Okuidjerhe, in Ethiope East Local Government Area in Delta State, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, paid a visit to the community to assess the impact of dredging activities.

This visit follows an earlier meeting he held with dredgers in his office at Isiokolo, where the dangers of unregulated dredging were discussed.

During the inspection, Hon. Ogedegbe was visibly displeased with the proximity of dredging sites to residential areas, describing the situation as a serious threat to lives and properties.

He assured the community that the Delta State Commissioner for Environment would be brought in to address the issue and ensure proper regulations are enforced.

Residents, who had long voiced their fears, expressed relief at his intervention and are hopeful for swift government action to put an end to hazardous dredging in their neighborhood.
