The Man Nyesom Wike And His Political Career

Though I’m not a political analyst or a journalist, I can do this write-up to the best of my knowledge. My submission/facts may not be accurate or may lack political vocabulary, but I believe one should be able to deduce the essence of the write-up.

Frankly speaking, I don’t know Wike in person or any of the personalities that I will be referencing but my facts will be based on surface background.

Let me start with how Wike became the Governor of Rivers State: No doubt, he started as a LGA chairman; from there, he became a state appointee and moved to FG appointee and eventually became the Governor of Rivers State and the following persons were instrumental to his rising: Former Governor Peter Odili and First Lady, Former Governor Rotimi C. Amaechi and First Lady, and Former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and First Lady. These I know to the best of my knowledge. The fight between Wike and Ameachi was not overnight, it resulted from political differences. Ameachi decamped to APC to join forces with Buhari to oust Jonathan. At this point, Wike was ready to do anything that wanted to stop GEJ, and Amaechi fell into this category though he was once his boss, he couldn’t trade the GEJ mandate for anyone else. This was the beginning of his fight with his former boss, Amaechi. Mark you, Amaechi did not help him to become the Governor of Rivers State; he actually worked against him because they were no longer in the same party. This made the former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan love him dearly, and he was marvelously helped to succeed Amaechi. After he became the Governor of Rivers State, he took Odili and his wife as political parents. For eight years, he was loyal to them, and he never insulted them. At this point, Atiku and his co-travelers had abandoned the umbrella (PDP) to romance with Buhari and Tinubu. It was a new found love for Atiku and his co-travelers. GEJ was defeated at the pole and PDP became an orphan. You will agree that Wike singlehandedly took it upon himself to ensure that PDP came to life. Where were Atiku and those fighting him now? They were nowhere to be found. They were still enjoying their new found love (APC). While some of the remnants were hiding under shells or not willing to invest in the dying PDP for reasons best known to them, Wike was the only one speaking as a voice for the already-wounded umbrella. To many of us who are lovers of the umbrella, Wike was a man, and we were all singing his praise both day and night.

He started having issues With GEJ when he became unstable about whether to join forces with Buhari as he was frequently visiting the villa. However, he didn’t insult him and the First Lady, but there is some rift between them till date. I stand to be corrected, please!
Fast forward, after Atiku was defeated at the APC primary election, he cunningly came back to the same house he helped to destroy. He contested for the Northern slot at the primary, and he won; he went to the pole with Buhari, and he was defeated. In 2023. When it became the turn of the South to contest, he connived with some traitors in the South to win the Primary election.
They picked their VP, leaving him behind because politics is a game of interest. Wike decided to play his own game, and everybody is asking for his head; I beg your pardon!

You can’t curse Wike and praise Atiku, you can’t curse Wike and praise Okowa. You can’t curse Wike and praise Peter Obi. They are all politicians with the intention to rule by all means. None of them can be more PDP than Wike. Wike has to remain politically relevant. He played his game, and he became the FCT Minister. How is it your cup of tea? All of them were in the game, and they had their different shares of the game. Wike was not the cause of their defeat, it was their game that defeated them.

On Fubara, he was a nobody politically if not for his political godfather, Wike who made him the Governor of Rivers State. What did he do? Just within the space of 6 months in office, he started a romance with his boss’ political enemies who now pitched him against the man who went out of his way to make him a governor with some angry “OBEDIENTS” who wants to punish him for giving Rivers State to Tinubu. All the “brohaha” about he wants to collect a particular percentage from the State Treasury monthly is emotional blackmail. Almost all past elected leaders or political appointees are involved in kickbacks. Fubara is a chronic betrayal and a heartbreaker; may you not have his type as a loyalist. Forget the noise, Fubara is not a saint, and he is not fighting for the interest of Rivers State. Those supporting him are doing so because of their hatred for Wike for how he punished Atiku and his co-travelers and gave Obi votes to Tinubu. The rift between Wike and the Odilis started when they abandoned him for Fubara and it is also a game of interest. Wike was no longer the governor, and the Odilis wanted to continue to sip from the State Treasury, so they pitched with Fubara, nothing more. You may not like Wike, but he is a man, a fighter, and a wise politician. “Abeg, clear the road for him”!

Truth be told, the sins of Fubara are many, but we don’t want to talk about them because of our hatred for Wike. This is the case of everything Fubara did is right even if it was wrong and everything Wike did is wrong even if he was right.

Since many of us have refused to face the truth, let the politicking continue. The best striker will win.

Mind you, when the Supreme Court delivers a judgment, it reflects the rule of law and the authority of the Federal Government, representing the principles that govern the nation.

Believing that one has the option to disregard such rulings opens the door to chaos and undermines the legal system. It is essential to understand that proper guidance involves recognizing the boundaries of individual choice within the framework of the law. Failing to acknowledge this can lead to misunderstandings and, ultimately, consequences that may jeopardize one’s standing and success in society. Proper adherence to the law fosters order, stability, and justice within the Nation.

While praising Fubara because he said he would respect the Supreme Court ruling, let him disregard it and face the consequences.
