Ukwuani LGA Chairman Bans Night-Time Motorcycle, Tricycle Operations To Boost Security

In a decisive move to combat crime and enhance public safety across Ukwuani Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman of Ukwuani LGA, Hon. C. S. P. Ajede, has announced a ban on the movement of motorcycles and tricycles from 10:00 p.m. daily.

The Chairman made the announcement during a meeting with members of the Vigilante Group on Thursday at his office.

He explained that the decision became necessary in response to growing security concerns and the need to protect lives and property within the local government.

According to Hon. Ajede, intelligence and security reports have shown that motorcycles and tricycles are sometimes used to facilitate criminal activities during late hours.

He stressed that the restriction is a proactive measure aimed at strengthening security operations and creating a safer environment for residents.

The ban applies to commercial motorcycles (okada), private motorcycles, and tricycles (Keke) operating within the local government from 10:00 p.m. each day. However, exemptions will be granted to security personnel, emergency responders, and individuals on duly authorized special duties.
