Police Arrest Eight In Abraka, Recover Three Locally Made Pistols, Illicit Drugs

The Delta State Police Command has arrested eight suspects and recovered three locally made pistols, Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs during an intelligence-led operation in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Friday, September 4, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD.

According to the statement, the arrests were made by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) following an ongoing investigation into an attempted murder reported on September 3, 2026.

Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives raided suspected criminal black spots within Abraka, leading to the arrest of eight suspects identified as Evans Adamda, Mamatime Micheal, Wale Morakinya, Anabono, Godspower, Theophilus Philip, Robinson Oghenewiro and Inoni Ejiroghene.

During the operation, the Police recovered three locally made pistols, Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs.

The suspects and recovered exhibits are currently in police custody, while investigation is ongoing to establish their individual involvement in the alleged attempted murder and other criminal activities within the area.

The Command said the development was part of its ongoing efforts to tackle kidnapping, violent crime, cultism, illicit drugs and other criminal activities across Delta State.

Woman Rescued From Kidnappers In Sapele

In a separate operation, the Command also rescued an abducted woman in Sapele after she was reportedly ambushed by armed men at the entrance of her residence along Eko-Amukpe Road.

The incident occurred at about 7:45pm on September 2, 2026, when the woman was attempting to drive into her compound.

According to the statement issued by SP Bright Edafe, the suspects fired several shots into the air before taking the woman into a nearby bush.

Upon receiving the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer, Sapele Division, immediately mobilised patrol and surveillance teams to the scene, where expended AK-47 ammunition shells were recovered.

Police operatives, supported by local vigilantes, commenced an intensive search of the surrounding bushes which continued throughout the night into the morning of September 3.

The sustained operation reportedly mounted pressure on the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee.

The woman was subsequently located and rescued unharmed before being reunited with her family.

The Command said it has intensified efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, commended the operatives and local vigilantes for the successes recorded.

He reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led operations and decisive action against kidnappers, cultists and other criminal elements across the state.

The CP assured residents that the Command would continue to identify criminal hideouts, apprehend offenders and recover illicit weapons, while urging members of the public to support the Police with timely and credible information.
