COVID-19: Professor Ogwu Speaks On Phased Resumption For DELSU Students

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Delta State University Abraka, Delta Sate, Professor (Mrs.) Grace Ngozi Ogwu has said that the management is very prepared to receive DELSU students as they return to campus after several months of lockdown arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recall that the institution’s 100 Level and Final Year students were asked to resume first when the phased resumption commenced.

In an exclusive interview with Oasis Magazine (OM), she added that during the six months stay at home, students had lectures through the DELSU Learning Management System (DLMS) platform created by the Delta State University ICT unit for online learning, saying that this means the semester ran smoothly

She added that the management made adequate arrangements for the different programs in the university in order to maintain COVID-19 protocols.

Continuing, she disclosed that pre-degree, diploma and JUPEB students were told to resume and write their exams on different days for them to maintain social distance.”

Adding: “The programs were slated to end before the undergraduates were invited to resume for adequate space to observe social distancing during lectures, tests and exams..”

According to her, the 100 Level and Final Year students were asked to resume on the 5th of October and vacate the campus before 15th of November (depending on the date each department concludes examination) because the 200 and 300 level students will have to resume immediately.

Speaking further, Ogwu said, “The management is trying to save the 2019/2020 academic session because DELSU has been at the forefront of resumption and sticking to her academic calender in the country because we do not go on strike.”
