Okowa’s Political Adviser, Omimi Urges Isoko People To Embrace Peace, Commends Ndokwa Nation

The State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, is worried at the frequent incidents of communal clashes in lsoko land which has led to scores of people dead and properties running into millions of naira destroyed, Omimi Esquire, the Governor’s Political Adviser, has lamented.

He however commended the people of Ndokwa East and West Local Government Areas for living in relative peace.

Speaking at a sensitization meeting with community women and youth leaders from the lsoko nation and Ndokwa nationality at the NULGE Hall, lsoko South Secretariat in Oleh, the council headquarters , yesterday, the political adviser wondered why the affected communities could not cohabit peacefully but choose to bicker over land boundaries.

Omimi Esquire said while government was doing all it can to forestall further breakdown of law and order in the affected communities by setting up a panel of enquiry to look into the immediate and remote causes of the boundary dispute related violence, the Governor was appealing for all and sundry to sheathe their swords and embrace peace so that more development can come to lsoko land, averring that no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of crisis.

While stating that the Okowa administration had high regards for the lsoko nation judging from the number of her indigenes holding sensitive political appointments in his administration, the Political Adviser to the Governor said lsoko nation has benefitted, and will continue to benefit from the developmental vision of the Okowa administration’s ‘Stronger Delta’ agenda.

For the Ndokwa people, Omimi Esquire was full of praises for the relative peace in Ndokwa land, stating that with the Kwale lndustrial park and Benekwu bridge among several completed projects dotting the entire landscape, the people will benefit more from the Okowa administration in the distribution of democratic dividends.
He said Ndokwa sons and daughters are part of the present administration, urging them to support the Operation Delta Hawk joint task force recently inaugurated by the Governor.

Omimi added: “The people of lsoko and Ndokwa should know that security is everybody’s business. They must report all criminal activities in their communities to the relevant security agencies. They must be proactive.”

In their various remarks during the robust interactive session, the representatives of the lsoko and Ndokwa nationality stressed the need for government to always feel their pulse by providing them with projects that will impact on them.

They commended the Governor for approving the sensitization visit, stating that it has gone a long way to bridging the gap between government and the governed.

Goodwill messages were delivered by the Vice Chairmanship candidate for lsoko north on the platform of PDP, Hon Ozue and SSA Political to the Governor, Hon Evans Egbo. Comrade Hope George, SA Political, was also in attendance.
