Earlier this week at Asaba, Delta Political Vanguard, the most formidable pressure group in Delta state, played host to the National executive of DC 23 ably led by Chief Ighoyota Amori .

It was a personal honour and privilege to attend the meeting as a member and a critical stakeholder of the group.

In the course of canvassing for Urhobo candidacy at that meeting, Chief Ighioyota Amori, I must confess exhibited a lot of restraint; understanding, naturity and absolute moralsuasion while canvassing the position of Delta central, come 2023.

He pleaded with the group to support Delta central come 2023. He equally urged them to help persuade His Exellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to support a man from Delta central. Chief Ighoyota Amori also stated that, as a founding member of PDP in the state, rotation along senatorial district has helped in no small measure to stabilise and enhance victory for the party in the state.

He also commended the governor for his unprecedented achievements in the state.

He reiterated the commitment of DC23 to the supremacy and leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party and pledged the total loyalty of the group to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa while praying that God should direct him to pick a successor from Delta central.

Though am not a member of DC23, I must confess that the argument put forward by the leadership of the group that day was superlative and it was based on this superior arguments put forward by DC23 that left the leadership of Delta Political Vanguard ably led by Hon Prince Michael Diden (aka Ejele) to be left with no other choice than to support and throw thier weight behind the quest for Urhobo candidacy, come 2023.

However, let me say this once and for all- It is this same beautiful argument been canvassed by DC23 that the OSU Governorhip Movement (OGM) seeks to replicate at the constituency level within the Delta central political super structure.

it will be highly unacceptable, totally catastrophic and utterly regrettable that while we crave for equity at the senatorial level we tend to downplay it at the constituency level .

Morality and equity demands that since the ughelli and Ethiope federal constituency has produced the Governor in Delta central, it naturally should be the turn of Okpe/Sapele and Uwvie to produce the next Governor now that is the turn of Delta central come 2023.

The people of Osu federal constituency, a critical stakeholder within the Delta central political space must also be given the exceptional privilege to produce the Governor come 2023 if we actually believe in equity and justice we spent so much energy canvassing at the state level.

Anything short of this position is sheer hypocrisy and a deliberate attempt to turn logic on its head.

This position and argument by the people of OSU Governorship movement (OGM) must not be taken for granted because of its unintended consequences, bad blood and disunity it is capable of generating among us as a people.

One of the great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to listen to each other , to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.

OSU for Governor is our great and irrepressible mandate in Delta central. My support, your support and the support of all Deltans will lead us to the change we all yearn for and the Delta state of our dream.

OGM ‘ 2023 is our mandate
