Delta: Ezewu Warns Against Collection Of Unapproved Levies In Secondary Schools

Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has warned against the collection of unapproved levies in secondary schools in the state.

Mrs. Ezewu, handed the warning in her office in Asaba when the State Chapter of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) led by its State President, Lady Winifred Emeni led other executive members to an interactive
meeting with the commissioner.

The Secondary Education Commission, who urged all the stakeholders in the education sector to contribute their quota towards sanitising the system, pledged to continue to do her best in a bid to reposition the sector.

Mrs. Ezewu, assured that secondary education under her watch would always release results of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in record time, adding that she would carry them along in the scheme of things.

Earlier, the State President of the association, Lady Winifred Emeni, who commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for appointing her as Commissioner for Secondary Education, informed the commissioner that they were in her office to fashion out ways of moving secondary education forward.

Lady Emeni, who appealed to the state government to provide more furniture equipment such as chairs in secondary schools, appreciated the Governor for upgrading schools in the state.

Meanwhile, the Secondary Education Commissioner has said that all public and private secondary schools will resume for the first term of the 2021/2022 academic session on Monday, September 13 .

The Secondary Education Commissioner, who gave the hint in Asaba in a chat with newsmen, said that few days after resumption the students would write resumption test.

According to Ezewu, borders would resume on Sunday, September 12, adding that the Okowa led administration was committed more than ever before to ensuring that schools were conducive for effective teaching and learning activities.

Ezewu, used the opportunity to call on parents to ensure that their children and wards were adequately prepared for school, adding that principals and teachers should redouble their commitments towards impacting more positively the lives of the students through effective teachings and counseling.
