Amori Did Not Empower Agoda –Kess Abuku

The Media Aide to Rt. Hon Chief John Halims Agoda OFR, former House of Representatives Member, Comr. Kess Abuku, has refuted a claim by one Morgan Logun, who stated that Rt. Hon John Halims Agoda is one of the persons empowered by Chief Ighoyota Amori in Ethiope West Local Government Area.

Abuku in a swift reaction to the publication made it known that the claim that Amori empowered Agoda was fallacious, mischevious and misleading, explaining that “the write up was borne out of overzealousness and in a bid to please his pay masters”.

Abuka stressed that “it was not possible for Amori to empower Agoda being that as at 1991 when Chief Amori was a common plumber living under Omene roof in Benin City, Edo State, Rt. Hon. John Halims Agoda (OFR) had contested his first election in 1991 and was the Honourable Member Representing Ethiope West Constituency 1 in Delta State House of Assembly during the era of Military head of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and first elected Governor in Delta State Olorogun Sen. Felix Ibru.”

According to Comr. Kess Abuka, “Rt. Hon. Agoda was already an established politician when Chief Amori was struggling to become a Councillor with the influence of the then Ethiope leaders, the likes of His Excellency Chief Ray Inije, Chief William Odudu, Chief Ameh Ewharekuko and Chief Robinson Otubu, alias (Blackarrow ).”

Abuku went further to state that “when Chief Amori was running errands for the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori and the former Deputy Governor of the then Bendel State (comprising Edo and Delta) Chief Ray Inije, in 1999, Rt. Hon Agoda had contested for the House of Representatives, under an unpopular party (APP) and won the candidate of PDP in Ethiope Federal Constituency. He later defected from his former political party to PDP in 2001.”

He lamented further , “How come Amori who couldn’t empower himself to win election in his entirety so far in politics and mostly recently failed to defeat a lady in his party primary could boast of empowering Rt. Hon Halims Agoda (OFR) who is a household name since 1991 and before Amori was appointed as a Commissioner during the Ibori administration.”

Abuku stated that their principal, Rt. Hon Halims Agoda was a public figure who hit political limelight over a decade before Chief Amori became known in the political sphere in Delta State.

Comr. Kess Abuku while refuting the fallacious claim by Morgan Logun further, made it known that the number of persons listed by Morgan, if there is any element of truth therein, Amori was not the one who empowered such persons but the former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori.

“Chief Amori was just an errand boy to the former Delta State governor who is just claiming glory for what he is not and has not done,” Abuku concluded.
