New Delta State HOSTCOM Chairman Promises Justice, Equity, Fairness

The newly sworn in Chairman of Delta State Chapter of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Minerals, HOSTCOM, Comrade Enujeke Ndidi Sunday has promised to run an administration anchored on justice, equity and fairness.

Comrade Sunday stated this when he was sworn in along with his executive members over the weekend.

According to him, he would not tow the line of his predecessor who failed to hand -over after the expirations of his tenure as the constitution demands which necessitated the setting up of lnterim Management Committee(IMC) by the National Leadership of HOSTCOM that made them to be elected for the day.

While thanking the lnterim Management Committee for doing a good job as the set up was drawn from the six (6) ethinic nationalities which comprise Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko, Ndokwa and lka, saying, as they are on board, they are poised to carry out their assignments effectively and efficiently in order to manage the collective resources of the people to achieve the aims and objectives of the commission.

He said: “As we are on board, it is our mandate to carry out assignments effectively and efficiently in order to manage our collective resources anchored on accountability, transparency, open door policy and the rule of law”.

He said, like what the immediate past Delta State HOSTCOM Chairman said in his inaugural speech during his swearing in on the 5th April 2017, he anaylised how he was elected on the 9th of January that after four years’ tenure, it would become the turn of Ndokwa ethinic nationality as other nationalities have got their share of four years’ turn rotation as the
constitution demands, adding, but he failed to conduct election which made his administration epitomised as mal-administration of his leadership but to God be the glory, with the work of lnterim Management Committee(IMT) put in place, they are being sworn in today.

According to Comrade Sunday, the PIA as a welcome development has come to address issues as they relate to HOSTCOM to a large extent, adding, as their roles cover Oil and Gas, which are defined in the Act should be well implemented as the duplication of their responsibilities to other private platforms would be uncalled for in the state.

He therefore urged the people to be steadfast saying, they have a symbolic relationship and partnership with the state government, multinational corporations and the various communities to create enabling environment to bring about sustainable peace, growth and development in all ramifications to the area. He said, as non -partisan organization, they would continuously agitate for what is due to the various communities just as he said, they would support Delta State Government in her developmental policies in the oil bearing communities.

Comrade Sunday used the medium to thank the Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa for his love and support of HOSTCOM and Delta State Oil Producing Development Commission (DESOPADEC) which is led by Hon. Askia Ogieh, the Managing Director (CEO) DESOPADEC and the entire board members.

He also solicited the support of the Delta State Government, intervention agencies and multinational corporations in order for the commission to achieve the deals of human capital development in all facets to the various communities.

Highlight of the programme was administration of the oath of allegiance on the executive members.
