Professor Egwunyenga Promises To Continue To Deliver On Human Capacity Development In DELSU

In line with the state government’s SMART Agenda, on human and capital development, the Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka has restated his commitment to building and delivering on that mandate.

Prof. Andy Ogochukwu Egwunyenga, who spoke to journalists on Wednesday at Asaba, said his administration is committed to transforming the varsity to becoming one of the best by ensuring the best infrastructure, and facilities are competitive.

He said, ”What you call magic is an innovation of the principles we have adopted to transform the university to become one of the best.”

He maintained: “If we must become the best and better, we must ensure that a lot of things are put in place, the best infrastructure, the best facilities, and programmes that are competitive which are reflecting in the university”.

He continued: “What you are seeing today wouldn’t have been possible without the backing, support, funding of the highly distinguished leaders and Governor of the state, Senator (Dr.) ifeanyi Okowa”.

He added that “His Excellency, the Governor of Delta state has been decisively supportive to the growth of the university, saying the university is currently undergoing accreditation of 40 different programme which another added advantage.

He said this accreditation, “will help to deliver the Governor’s mandate of human capacity development, infrastructural development and provides access to education to tinning young Deltans”.

He added that the successful story would not be possible without the backing, support, funding of the leaders and amiable governor of the state.

He commended the state legislators and the budget committee, who have backed the governor with the right kind of laws and appreciation of resources.

Adding separately, Dr. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, the Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara said ”We keyed into the SMART AGENDA of the state governor to ensure we deliver quality education to the state.

”And produce students who can compete in the world market place and also can be productive employment of others”.
