Umurhohwo Operation ‘Catch Them Young Football Competition’ Kicks Off December 9

The 4th edition of the Oke Umurhohwo Football Competition is poised to commence on December 9, 2023, igniting the Ughelli Township Stadium with an opening match.

Sixteen football teams across Delta state are vying for victory, aiming to reach the finals slated for December 23, 2023.

In this tournament organised by the Oke Umurhohwo Foundation, Group A includes Super Sheraton, Ogor United, Eleven Star FA, and Delta Rangers FA; Group B comprises Delta Marines FC, Maro 11 FA, Ewi Sport life FC, and Star Light FC.

Others are; Group C, which features Royal Oghale FC, Flying Rangers, Solution FC, and Orlando Rangers; while Group D Consists of PTI United FC, Successful Rangers, 36 Lions FC, and Maro 11 FA Youth Team.

Hon. Oke Umurhohwo, the patron of the Umurhohwo Football Competition, is driven by the mission to harness young talents. Expressing the purpose behind this event, Umurhohwo highlighted the objective of nurturing players from the local government area into potential stars in both local and state leagues.

The ultimate prize for the winning team stands at 350,000 naira, medals and set of jerseys, with the runners-up securing 200,000 naira, medels and set of jerseys. Additionally, accolades await the best coach, player, goalkeeper, and goal scorer.

Umurhohwo emphasized the tournament’s role in shaping formidable teams for local and state leagues, drawing parallels between the journey of today’s global sports icons and the budding talents he hopes to foster.

The grand finale anticipates esteemed dignitaries, including Pastor Kes Nomuoja, Rt Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III (JP), Chief Peter Akpofure, Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, and other notable figures that expected to grace the culmination of this exciting event.
