“Politics Should Not Be About Tribal And Religious Sentiment”- Philip Shaibu

An aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming Edo state governorship gubernatorial election, and Deputy Governor.of the state, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu has said governance is beyond tribal and religious sentiment but rather charisma and character to the people.

Comrade Shaibu, pointed out that the people in Edo state and Nigeria at large are getting more exposed and wiser to determine their candidates in governance.

He said gradually it will become history for politicians to hide under religion, rotation, tribal sentiment or other means to deceive the electorates.

“Only those who don’t have charisma and character to sell themselves are the ones pushing tribal and religious agenda”.

“No doubt, we all have religion and hail from different tribes but governance should embrace and cut across all borderlines”.

The retired Bendel Insurance footballer said development does not speak different language, that is why people can travel to other developed countries and get comfort.

Philip Shaibu who was the former NUPENG National Chairman said after serving as Deputy Governor to Governor Godwin Obaseki, he has gathered experience and seen many abnormalities he needs to set up right to develop Edo state.

“I am not fighting Governor Obaseki because he his not supported my ambition to be the next Governor, I have proved to be loyal to him to the betterment of the state while in office.”

“Everyone knew that in my capacity, every department under me while in office are well developed though with the support of Obaseki”

He also noted that he must give listening to the people through elders who are professionals and specialists in different sectors.

“My advisers must be specialists who are older than me, and all my commissioners must be younger than me. This means that I will place value on experience and knowledge that comes with age, and I’ll surround myself with individuals who possess specialized skills. I also desire to have a diverse range of perspectives by including individuals from different age groups in advisory and commissioners roles”.
