DSCHC On The Move, As Olorogun John Nani Registers 240 Women

Two hundred & forty (240) women have been adopted and enrolled under the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, courtesy of the Chairman Governing Board, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Olorogun John Nani.

Flagging off the event in the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU Cultural Center at Okere road, Warri, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer, Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Olorogun Isaac Akpoveta said he was happy to celebrate the “remarkable generosity and compassion of a great philanthropist, Hon. Barr. Chief John Obukohwo Nani who has set a shining example for all to follow”.

” …The gesture, in response to the clarion call of the Director-General of DSCHC, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta to all people of goodwill to key into the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative of the Commission was not just an act of charity but a demonstration of profound empathy and a tangible commitment to the well-being of the people”.

” …The Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative aims to ensure that every resident of Delta State, especially the indigents, regardless of their socio-economic status, has access to quality healthcare.

” It is heartwarming to see the spirit of solidarity and community support exemplified by this gentleman, whose noble gesture will provide essential healthcare coverage for those who need it most. With just N7000 per person you can purchase our health insurance card for your neighbor in need to access quality health care throughout the year. This is exactly what John Nani has just done, and the reason we are here today” Dr. Akpoveta added.

He also noted that the gesture was what the M.O.R.E. Agenda of H.E. Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori administration stood for, to Think M.O.RE. and do MORE for your neighbors, and urged stakeholders to SAVE A LIFE; by adopting and paying for the health insurance cover of any indigent person, with N7000 naira only for a year of quality healthcare.

Dr. Akpoveta said the indigent Adoption Enrollee Initiative underscored the importance of synergy in addressing healthcare disparities, noting that the Commission aimed to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage to indigent individuals, improve health outcomes and promote social equity within communities, through the initiative.

He called on stakeholders especially those in the diaspora, to continue supporting initiatives aimed at expanding healthcare access for all residents of Delta State, as together they could build a healthier, more prosperous future for our people.

While harping on the foundation of the (DSCHC), he listed their programs to include Equity Health Plan paid for by the Government for all pregnant women and children who are under five years; Formal Health Plan and the Informal Health Plan; noting that the Commission was implementing The Access To Finance Initiative for the hard to reach areas of the state; the Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Program (TISHIP) for Students, The Artisans Enrollee Inducement Initiative; and the Indigent Enrollee Adoption Initiative, which has helped to significantly increase healthcare coverage and improve health outcomes.

He thanked the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for providing strong political will and financial support to the commission, and expressed commitment to expanding the reach and impact across the state, while also ensuring health for all in Delta State by the year 2030 as stipulated in SDG 3 of the United Nations.

Addressing the gathering, the DESOPADEC Chairman said the gesture was his own way of meeting the needs of the people who have given him a position to hold in trust for them, adding that he would do more.

The President General of Urhobo Progress Union, worldwide Olorogun Barr. Gam Owe, Leader of UPU Women Worldwide, Dame Rose Oghene, Osu Ewheya -, Chief Roseline Amioku, Olorogun Owovie, Chief Meg Atano, a former Commissioner for Culture in the State, Mrs Philomena , former SSA on Women Mobilization, Mrs Beauty Anidi and others who spoke thanked the DESOPADEC Chairman for obliging the Union’s request to register some of their members.
They said 10 women were selected from the various kingdoms that made up urhobo nation to benefit from the scheme, and called on other leaders in urhobo land to take a cue.

The newly enrolled women who spoke in an interview were grateful.

Olorogun John Nani was then presented a plaque of hon our as a Health Insurance Ambassador by the Director General/Chief Executive Officer, Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), Olorogun Isaac Akpoveta, In recognition of his exemplary effort in extending quality healthcare to the people.
