The leadership of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youthwing, Worldwide, has succesfully held the second in the series of skill acquisition programmes for Urhobo youths.

The training took place at Ruijegan Hotel (206), Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Recall that recently, the youth body organised an impactful programme that trained youths to be employable.

Today’s (Tuesday) event was geared towards training Urhobo youths how to instal CCTV cameras.

TriPoject Technologies was on ground to patiently take participants through the steps needed in order to start making a living for themselves from this lucrative field.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, President, UPU, Youthwing, said: “Yesterday was Mukoro Mowoe day. He was the first President General of UPU. In his time, he did some laudable things fior Urhobo Nation. As the youth president, I am motivated by what he did and I am towing that line.”

“My plan and vision is to ensure that Urhobo youths are well placed and respected,” he stated.

He commenmded TriPoject Technologies who saw the need to support and collaborate with the youth group.

“I must also thank Dr. Rufus Ebegba, Directior of National Biosafety Agency of Nigeria,” he added.

He also thanked one of the sponsors (who does not want to be mentioned, adding that they are doing these trainings so Urhobo youths can be self-reliant.

“When we are self-reliant, politicians will know that they cannot use us,” he averred.

According to him, the programme is one of those in the offing that will be held.

To the youths that participated, he said they have been trained and it is time for them to build their own wealth.

“As long as I am the president, the best is yet to come,” he noted, adding that he cannot be distracted.

Continuing, he said: “A 52-year-old man parading himself as youth president and trying to hijack UPU Youthwing cannot lead Urhobo youths.

“The governor knows that for six months without a faction, we have been able to do a lot. We have never disturbed the Governor. If he wants to know the authentic youthwing, let him stop the money that accrues to them and see if they will not step down.”

Meanwhile, one of the participants, Engineer Daniel Osharode from Evwreni Kingdom, a graduate of Chemical Engineering, University of Benin, while commending the organisers, said the youth leaders have been doing a superb job since they were inaugurated.

He said: “I have listened to Comrade Umukoro several times and he has continually emphasised that his administration is determined to change the narrative.

“This is what is called empowerment when people are trained to use skills acquired to fend for themselves.

“We hope not to disappoint them in the future because they have invested heavily in us today and we cannot afford to fail.

“Comrade Efemena Umukoro is a star and he reminds me of Mukoro Mowoe who I am aware loved Urhobo Nation passionately.”

Another trainee, Emuobor Mughele from Udu, said: “The training was impactful. I learnt a lot. I can now say I now know how to install the CCTV. I can now give back to the society based on what I learnt today.”

While commending the leadership of the youth body, she opined that the kind of leadership presented by the Umukoro-led adminstration is one every youth in Urhobo land should identify with and be proud of.

She added: “The leadership must be supported and we must all find ways to support their vision and make their dreams for Urhobo youths come to pass.”

She called on all Urhobo youths to be part of the trainings, stressing that those not coming are missing a lot.
