Ibori £4.2M Loot: Delta Lawyer Writes Malami, Wants Money Given To Him, Gives Reasons, Threatens Court Action

(Legal Practitioner, Rights, Advocates Estate & Corporate Consultant), Sapele, has given reasons why he should be given the £4.2 loot seized from former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori by the United Kingdom which will be returned to the Federal Government of Nigeria any moment from now.

In an open letter addressed to the Hon. Attorney General & Minister for Justice, Federal Ministry Of Justice, Abuja, Abubakar Malami SAN, he said being a Deltan and also for the fact that he was deprived the benefits of the money many years ago, now that the money will be returned to the country, he had every right to demand for the money, adding that if need be, he will go to court to pursue his desire to be given the sum.

His words: “The recovered fund of £ 4.2 million pound was looted from the Delta state government fund meant for capital and human development in Delta State. Within the said period the money was looted, I was in Delta State being an Indigene of the state,” adding that as a result of the looted fund meant for his comfort, development and basic amenities, he suffered both psychological and mental stress due to lack of basic amenities which includes portable water, basic education, Good roads, power supply, health care among others.

Adding: “That I was deprived human development by the then Delta State Governor because the said fund was meant for my care being a social contract which exists between the Governor of Delta state and I between 1999 and 2007 he was in power as the Delta State Governor.”

Furthermore, he said that “any refund to the Delta state government might be re-looted as those who aided the said loot are same persons at the helm of affair.”

He continued: “In view of the foregoing, you are hereby given 30 days to remit the said sum to me, failure to comply to the above, I will be compelled to seek legal redress in the court of the law to assert my right.”
